Job description

The Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture.
Summary
The Manufacturing Planning Analyst plays a key role within the Global Planning organization, supporting Integrated Business Planning (IBP) through advanced analytics, scenario evaluation, and decision-ready insights. This position is responsible for developing and communicating monthly 24-to-36-month Rough Cut Capacity Plans (RCCP) that align customer demand, production capacity, inventory strategies, available resources, and company strategic objectives across both short- and long-term planning horizons.
The role partners closely with supply chain, manufacturing, sales, finance, and planning leadership to evaluate demand, supply, capacity, and operational constraints, translating complex data into actionable recommendations that improve business performance and decision quality. The Manufacturing Planning Analyst provides strategic insight into supply chain optimization, identifies risks and opportunities, and supports the resolution of planning challenges when initial plans do not align with business objectives.
As a subject matter expert in planning systems and processes, this position is responsible for system administration, configuration, data maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. The incumbent is expected to work independently, manage competing priorities, and effectively communicate recommendations to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Integrated Business Planning & Capacity Analysis
  • Develop, analyze, and communicate monthly 24-to-36-month Rough Cut Capacity Plans (RCCP) to support Integrated Business Planning, crop planning, annual budgeting, and long-range strategic planning processes.
  • Conduct pre- and post-planning reviews to identify capacity risks, supply constraints, inventory impacts, and opportunities that influence business performance.
  • Evaluate changes in demand, capacity, inventory, manufacturing capabilities, and operational constraints to recommend actions that improve service, cost, utilization, and overall supply chain effectiveness.
  • Perform data mining, advanced quantitative analysis, modeling, scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, inventory optimization, and capacity evaluations to support strategic decision-making.

Global Planning Integration & Governance
  • Lead the integration of new manufacturing facilities and global planning regions by establishing data standards, validating planning inputs, developing scalable planning models, and ensuring alignment with enterprise planning processes.
  • Drive planning governance, data quality, and organizational discipline to improve visibility, enhance decision-making, and ensure alignment across global planning teams.
  • Partner with regional planning leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to align centralized RCCP outputs with local execution plans and operational requirements.

Planning Systems & Process Excellence
  • Support enterprise planning transformation initiatives through process standardization, model development, system enhancements, and adoption of best practices.
  • Maintain planning models, production constraints, business rules, and operational parameters to ensure plans and schedules accurately reflect current business conditions.
  • Identify, lead, and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance planning accuracy, process efficiency, system capabilities, and decision support effectiveness.

Decision Support & Executive Communication
  • Support resolution of infeasible or constrained supply plans by collaborating with planning, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to evaluate alternatives, quantify tradeoffs, and recommend solutions.
  • Develop executive-level analyses, presentations, and business cases that translate complex operational, inventory, capacity, and financial information into actionable recommendations.
  • Present risks, opportunities, scenarios, and strategic tradeoffs to directors, vice presidents, and senior leaders to support informed decision-making and long-term business objectives.
  • Provide decision-ready insights that balance customer service, inventory investment, capacity utilization, operational efficiency, and financial performance.

Typical Education
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience
  • 4+ years related experience and/or training

Required Certifications
  • IBP / S&OP training or certifications (ASCM, Oliver Wight) preferred
