Job Summary

Church & Dwight is seeking a Sr. Master Data Steward to serve as a lead in governance and continuous improvement of master data to support Church & Dwight's businesses. This individual works closely with key stakeholders and leaders within functional groups to ensure master data is analyzed, controlled, entered, and released into the Master Data Governance (MDG) business system in a timely manner, as dictated by business needs. The Sr. Master Data Steward proactively collaborates with data owners and requestors to ensure clarity and completeness.

This individual works on complex data objects and/or emerging business brands, demonstrating in-depth subject matter expertise and business understanding. This individual leads collaboration with business functions and IT Solution Architects to analyze and resolve data issues and challenges.

This individual represents Enterprise Data Management (EDM) on projects and is also responsible for the integration of specific data object(s) during acquisitions.

The Sr. Master Data Steward mentors other data stewards, is a leader in the Data Steward Community of Practice, and contributes significantly to improvements in data steward standards, processes, and practices.

About the Role

The Sr. Master Data Steward has a lead role in governance and continuous improvement of master data to support Church & Dwight's businesses. This role is responsible for ensuring master data is maintained with accuracy, consistency, and compliance while supporting business operations, strategic initiatives, and acquisitions. The position partners closely with business stakeholders, IT Solution Architects, and Enterprise Data Management (EDM) to resolve data issues, improve governance practices, and drive continuous process improvement.

Work Environment

Remote: This role is performed on a remote basis. Occasional attendance at in-person meetings required as business needs dictate.

  • Analyzes, maintains, monitors, and governs either master data in the MDG platform and/or other integrated solutions in compliance with established service levels.

  • Serves as a trusted advisor to address business needs through appropriate data support and, by analyzing master data requests, proposes alternate resolutions to achieve business results.

  • Analyzes information to identify root causes and downstream impacts of master data changes to the entire business environment (big picture).

  • Leads creative problem solving with the EDM team and business partners, utilizing established global and regulatory rules.

  • Audits data accuracy, enhances data quality, and trains users to ensure continuity of results.

  • Promotes, implements, and governs practices, policies, and standards adopted by EDM.

  • Identifies areas of process and data weakness and drives improvement initiatives.

  • Creates, maintains, and enforces policies and procedures to ensure uniform, accurate, and consistent data are present in support of SOX and/or Quality audit requirements.

  • Provides testing support for upgrades, break fix, and enhancements, including integration testing from various sources to target systems.

  • Participates in the Data Steward Community of Practice and mentors more junior data stewards.

Education and Experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business or related discipline.

  • 5+ years of experience with an ERP system or master data management system.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Experience employing skills at the designated proficiency level as indicated in the Data Steward Skills Model.

  • Hands-on expertise administering and governing master data in SAP Master Data Governance (MDG), including create, change, and workflow-based approval processes.

  • Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA master data structures and the relationships across Material/Product, Vendor, Customer, and Financial master data domains.

  • Proficiency in data quality management techniques, including profiling, cleansing, de-duplication, validation rules, and exception and error resolution.

  • Ability to analyze large data sets using advanced Excel and query or reporting tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI) to determine root cause and downstream impact.

  • Understanding of data integration concepts and hands-on integration and user-acceptance testing across source-to-target systems (e.g., interfaces, IDocs).

  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks, standards, and stewardship practices (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK principles).

  • Working knowledge of SOX and Quality or regulatory data controls and audit requirements as they apply to master data.

  • Ability to author, maintain, and enforce data standards, business rules, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Good understanding of business process and relevant master data relationships that exist within the consumer products industry.

  • Demonstrated communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills needed to influence key decision makers within business functions supported as they pertain to managing master data within the company.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CPG manufacturing or other product manufacturing process(es).

  • Experience with Financial Master Data (General Ledger Accounts, Profit and Cost Center).

  • Additional certifications or education specific to data governance.

  • 2+ years of experience mentoring data stewards, leading data governance initiatives, or serving as a functional/data lead.

Compensation and Benefits

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $92,500-$131,700. This position is also eligible for a bonus.

As a Church & Dwight US employee, you (and eligible dependents, as applicable) will have access to medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid vacation and sick time, and Paid Parental Leave. U.S. employees are entitled to paid holidays, floating holidays, and vacation days starting in their first year of employment depending on hire date. You are also able to participate in our 401k retirement plan (with company match and profit-sharing) and Discounted Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay parity. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
