Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Employees may rotate between various production workstations based on operational needs.

  • Operate a glass tempering furnace, including loading and prepping glass materials
  • Adjust equipment settings and operational parameters as needed to ensure product quality
  • Inspect glass products and identify defects (e.g., scratches or imperfections)
  • Move glass between workstations to support production flow and efficiency
  • Perform and accurately record all required tempering and quality tests
  • Follow documented start-up and shut-down procedures
  • Operate all stations within the department for training and troubleshooting purposes
  • Train new hires and transfers as needed
  • Monitor equipment performance and report maintenance issues promptly
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Maintain production records and manage department inventory supplies
  • Ensure all employees follow required safety procedures and wear proper PPE
  • Communicate effectively with team members throughout the production line
  • Consistently maintain tempering metrics (Ex: rejects, throughput, quality) 
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret basic mathematical measurements
  • Understanding of geometric shapes and accurate use of a tape measure (to 1/16")
  • Ability to read and work from build documents and basic technical drawings
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand tools, cordless tools, and pneumatic tools
  • Ability to use computerized controls to adjust equipment settings
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to safely handle glass materials without causing damage or injury
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet production deadlines
Position Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: Minimum 6 months of related manufacturing or production experience preferred
Computer Skills: Basic computer literacy preferred

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical equipment and raw or tempered glass. The employee may encounter heat, vibration, and moderate to loud noise levels.
