What are Glass Production Associates?

Glass Production Associates are workers who help manufacture, process, and inspect glass products in factories or production facilities. Their responsibilities often include operating machinery, monitoring the glass-making process, inspecting finished products for quality, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. They may also be involved in packaging and preparing glass items for shipment. These roles require attention to detail, the ability to work as part of a team, and adherence to safety standards due to the risks associated with handling glass and heavy equipment.

What is the difference between Glass Production Associate vs Glass Manufacturing Technician?

Both roles are essential in glass manufacturing and share similar work environments and credentials.

What are some common challenges faced by Glass Production Associates and how can they be managed on the job?

Glass Production Associates often encounter challenges such as working in high-temperature environments, handling fragile materials, and maintaining quality standards during fast-paced production. To manage these, associates should follow strict safety protocols, use personal protective equipment, and practice careful handling techniques. Communication with team members and continuous training on new equipment can also help ensure a safe and efficient workflow.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Glass Production Associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Glass Production Associate, you need a solid understanding of production processes, safety protocols, and basic mechanical aptitude, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Job description

Glass Production Associate
Who We Are -
Viewrail designs and manufactures premium stair and railing systemsโ€”handling everything from sales and design through fabrication and delivery. Our glass shop is a core part of that operation, producing laminated and monolithic tempered glass panels that ship across the country. Weโ€™re a team that takes quality seriously, holds each other accountable, and keeps improving.
About the Role -
As a Glass Production Associate, youโ€™re responsible for quality at every stage of the processโ€”not just at final inspection. Youโ€™ll work across the shop floor: cutting, edging, tempering, lamination, and packing. The job requires attention to detail, safe material handling, and a willingness to own your work from start to finish.
Responsibilities: (These requirements are in addition to any and all Viewrail employment requirements and policies.)
  • Own quality at your station. Donโ€™t pass a problem downstream. If something doesnโ€™t meet standard, stop and resolve it or escalate with a recommendation.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment, adhering to all applicable state and federal regulations, company policies, and procedures.
  • Operate production equipment safely and efficientlyโ€”cutting tables, edgers, tempering furnace, lamination equipment, and finishing stations.
  • Move and handle glass material safely using forklifts, carts, and mechanical aids; load and unload glass to/from equipment, crates, and carts.
  • Maintain production documentation: update tracking reports, maintain part labels, and support the production traveler system accurately.
  • Communicate proactively with your manager and teammates about issues, near-misses, and opportunities for improvement. Surface concerns early.
  • Support cross-department cooperation and be available to assist in other areas of the operation as directed.
  • Contribute to team results by completing assigned work to the required quality level and within expected timeframes.
  • Other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, routings, and work orders to produce parts to required tolerances.
  • Physical capability for frequent standing, bending, and liftingโ€”up to 75 lbs. independently and greater weights with moving aids or team support.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate production equipment precisely.
  • Able to stand and remain active for 8โ€“10 hours per shift.
  • Strong work ethic with a consistent attendance record.
  • Problem solving skills and ability to think outside the box (critical thinking)
Desired Skills:
  • Previous glass production experience (cutting, edging, tempering, or lamination).
  • CNC machine operation experience.
How We Work -
We hold ourselves to six operating principlesโ€”not as slogans, but as the daily standard for how we show up and get work done.
  • Built to Grow. Weโ€™re not looking for people whoโ€™ve got it all figured out. We want people who are curious, coachable, and willing to put in the effort to get better.
  • Better Together. Strong results come from strong teams. We communicate clearly, support each other, and donโ€™t let problems sit.
  • Grounded amp; Great. We do what we say weโ€™re going to do. Quality, follow-through, and accountability arenโ€™t optionalโ€”theyโ€™re the baseline.
  • Think It Through. Before you act, understand the impact. We want people who ask the right questions and flag problems before they become bigger ones.
  • Be the Expert. Own your station. Know your process. If you see a better way, say something.
  • Partnership amp; Accountability. We succeed as a team. That means owning your resultsโ€”good or badโ€”and showing up for the people around you.
Benefits:
  • Medical
    • PPO and HDHP options
  • Vision
  • Dental
  • Voluntary Life Insurance
  • Short Term Disability
  • 401K with a company match of up to 4%
  • Paid holidays
  • Paid time off
