Job description

Come Join Us!
From apartments in New York to hospitals and stadiums in Dallas, libraries at prestigious universities to creating modern retail experiences, our teams contribute architectural glass and building products to projects that shape the way people live, work, heal, learn, and play. At OBE, the work of our employees truly matters. With over 6,500 employees, we operate more than 80 manufacturing and distribution facilities in five countries. You can see some of our favorite projects here.
Start your journey with OBE and help us build the future.
What You'll Do
As a Product Engineer II, you'll take custom customer requests and translate them into buildable engineering solutions, then hand production everything they need to make it real. You sit at the intersection of sales, estimating and the shop floor, serving as the technical backbone for your assigned product group within our architectural glass, glazing and metals business.
This isn't ground-up product design; our designs are already established. It's the sharper, more entrepreneurial work of configuring, adapting and problem-solving what exists to fit what the customer actually needs, within what the plant can actually build. If you like being the person people come to with "is this possible?", this is your role.
Job responsibilities include:
  • Own the full process for your assigned Product Group, end to end
  • Serve as the technical consultant to estimating on custom or out-of-standard quotes; when something falls outside normal system limitations, you determine what's viable and how to make it work
  • Equip production with everything needed to build: BOMs, methods of manufacture and custom engineering drawings
  • When a request isn't viable as-is, give feedback and recommend a path that works; you're a problem-solver, not a gatekeeper
  • Participate in Product Development projects, helping bulletproof processes from sales quote through production floor
  • Manage quote program preparation
  • Own corrective actions and ECNs tied to your Product Group
  • Represent your area in Cross-Functional Team (CFT) meetings on manufacturing issues
  • Help build out Green Road Documents (SWIs, PFDs, Control Plans and more)
  • Develop tools that connect systems, think Excel talking to our ERP, or automating a manual step, using light programming/scripting knowledge (iLogic, Excel, ERP configurators)
  • Build deep product knowledge and become a go-to technical resource for Manufacturing, Planning, Sales, Procurement and Quality

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in product design or development within a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling/CAD (Inventor, SolidWorks)
  • Working knowledge of programming logic and automation concepts (no developer background required)
  • Comfort working across multiple ERP systems
  • A collaborative, resourceful mindset and sharp problem-solving instincts

Position Pay Range
$80,000-$95,000 USD
What OBE Offers You
  • Benefits that benefit you - industry competitive benefits at the lowest cost to the employee
  • Work-life balance - PTO and holidays, including floating holidays you can choose
  • Compensation that rewards your hard work - A pay-for-performance culture with potential for annual raises and bonuses
  • Training - We will equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed

OBE Privacy Policy
OBE will not discharge or discriminate against employees or applicants for discussing, disclosing, or inquiring about their own or others' pay.
