Maintenance/Janitorial Team Member
Department: Operations
Reports To: General Manager or Shift Manager
Position Summary
The Maintenance/Janitorial Team Member plays a critical role in ensuring the restaurant is clean, safe, and welcoming at all times. This position is fully accountable for the overall cleanliness and sanitation of the restaurant, inside and out. The ideal candidate takes pride in attention to detail and consistently upholds McDonald's standards for hygiene, food safety, and guest experience.

An example of SOME of the Daily Cleaning Tasks (Required Every Day)
• Clean and sanitize restrooms (toilets, sinks, mirrors, floors, soap dispensers, etc.)
• Sweep, mop, and disinfect all floors in dining room, kitchen, and restrooms
• Empty and sanitize trash cans inside and outside the restaurant
• Clean all glass doors and windows (interior and exterior)
• Wipe down high-touch surfaces such as counters, door handles, railings, kiosks, and drink stations
• Maintain cleanliness of the dining area, drink bar, and condiment stations
• Ensure parking lot, sidewalks, and drive-thru lane are free of trash and debris
• Clean and restock janitorial supplies (toilet paper, soap, sanitizer, towels)
An example of SOME of the Weekly Cleaning Tasks
• Deep clean behind and underneath kitchen equipment (grills, fryers, etc.)
• Filter fryers
• Deep detail clean grills
• Power wash trash corral and exterior entrances
• Dust and wipe down baseboards, vents, and light fixtures
• Deep clean dining area furniture and booths
• Clean and descale soda and ice machines
An example of SOME of the Monthly Cleaning Tasks
• Clean ceilings and ceiling vents
• Boil out fryers
• Strip and wax kitchen floors (if applicable)
• Wash kitchen walls and storage areas
• Detail clean all stainless-steel surfaces
• Remove and clean light fixtures (where appropriate)
• Deep clean walk-in coolers and freezers
Additional Responsibilities
• Complete assigned checklists and cleaning logs accurately and on time
• Perform minor preventative maintenance and notify management of needed repairs
• Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures according to McDonald's policies
• Safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment according to training and safety guidelines
• Ensure all cleaning tools and equipment are maintained and stored properly
• Assist with unloading deliveries and organizing storage areas, as needed
Qualifications
• Must be 18 years or older (preferred)
• Ability to work independently and follow a detailed cleaning schedule
• Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, reach, and stand for extended periods
• Prior janitorial or custodial experience preferred, but not required
