Job description


Position Description:
Develops and maintains Web-based applications using Java, Angular, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Hibernate, and Spring Boot. Collaborates with colleagues on technical implementation and process improvements. Presents sophisticated technical solutions, ideas, and plans to stakeholders and business partners. Executes proof of concepts around new technical patterns and creates reusable components using GitHub, Jenkins, Artifactory, Selenium, SOAP, REST, and XML. Provides technical mentorship to other teammates within the product area. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on time and on budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates complex project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Systems Technologies, Information Assurance, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing and maintaining Web applications in a financial services environment, using Java and Angular.
Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Systems Technologies, Information Assurance, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing and maintaining Web applications in a financial services environment, using Java and Angular.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") developing Java RESTful services and middle-tier, multithreaded applications according to Agile methodologies, using Java, Spring, and Hibernate framework; performing application build, deployment, and support using Continuous Integration (CI) tools -- Jenkins and Maven; performing configuration management using GitHub; and performing Test Driven Development (TDD) using Unit and JUnit testing techniques, as well as UDeploy and SONAR.
  • DE creating test automation via distributed application development, using middleware technologies --REST, Web Services, Java, and Spring Boot.
  • DE writing clean, testable, readable, and maintainable code using GitHub, jFrog Artifactory, and Selenium; building scalable and high-performance Web applications using Angular and hosting the applications on AWS; streamlining build processes using JavaScript and TypeScript for faster compilation; and managing persona-based features and functionalities, entitlement-based access, and high reusability of APIs across internal and external clients with better predictability and control by implementing improved Forms API.
  • DE developing GitOps mechanisms to configure financial services applications for builds and deployments into Kubernetes Containers, using configurable YAML, Terraform, Helm Charts, and Argo; and monitoring application logging, and building dashboards and alerts based on logs for monitoring and notifications, using Datadog and Splunk.
