Job description

Salesforce Developer

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah - This role starts out fully in office and may transition to hybrid.

MUST live in or near Salt Lake City, Utah.

We are seeking a Salesforce Developer to join our growing technology team. This is a true hybrid role, split evenly between hands-on Salesforce development and partnering with the executive team to define, design, and improve business solutions. The ideal candidate leans toward development but maintains strong administrative fundamentals and is equally comfortable writing a Flow or an Apex class as they are sitting with a department lead to understand a business problem.

Above all, we are looking for a developer who works smarter, not harder. AI-assisted development is the operating philosophy of this role. We expect the Salesforce Developer to live in tools like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude, and ChatGPT to accelerate every part of the work, from requirements gathering and solution design to coding, testing, documentation, and user training. Candidates should be able to demonstrate, not just describe, how they have used these tools in production to ship better work in less time.

This role reports to the Vice President of Business Technology and works alongside a Senior Salesforce Developer who is the leasing-business subject-matter expert on the team. The Salesforce Developer will spend approximately 50% of their time on development and administration work, and 50% on requirements gathering, solution design, and architecture. This position collaborates closely with Sales, Operations, Pricing, Documentation, Accounting, and other departments to translate business needs into practical, scalable Salesforce solutions that support our continued growth.

Essential Duties:

  • Design and build Salesforce solutions using Flows, Apex, and other platform tools, with a focus on scalable, best-practice development.

  • Use AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, and similar) as a core part of the daily workflow to accelerate coding, code review, refactoring, and debugging.

  • Apply AI tools to requirements gathering and solution design, synthesizing team member conversations, drafting user stories, generating solution options, and producing first-pass technical specs.

  • Generate, maintain, and run automated tests with AI assistance, factoring in the full business process surrounding the automation to ensure big-picture success.

  • Use AI to keep documentation current. Configuration notes, business logic, runbooks, and user-facing training materials, without it becoming a separate project.

  • Split time roughly 50/50 between hands-on development and administration work and requirements gathering, solution design, and architecture.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams and department leaders to understand business processes, pain points, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Gather and document requirements, outline project scope, and design thoughtful, effective solutions.

  • Present multiple solution options to the executive team and recommend the best approach aligned with Salesforce best practices.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve existing workflows and systems, identifying opportunities to reduce friction and increase efficiency.

  • Help train and support users and team members on new processes and system functionality.

  • Communicate clearly and concisely with the entire team.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • 3-5 years of hands-on Salesforce development and administration experience, with strong proficiency in Flows and Apex.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field, or combined experience with education.

  • Demonstrable, daily use of AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, or equivalents) in a production setting. Candidates should be able to walk through specific examples of how they have used these tools to ship higher-quality work faster.

  • Solid understanding of the Salesforce data model, security, and permissions (no direct ownership of user setup required).

  • Proven ability to gather requirements and contribute to solution architecture.

  • Strong quality assurance and test automation skills, with the ability to factor the surrounding business process into test design.

  • Experience working with executive team members across multiple departments to translate business needs into system solutions.

  • Salesforce Administrator and Platform Developer I certifications preferred; Platform Developer II a plus.

  • Experience in financial services, equipment leasing, or a related B2B industry is a plus but not required.

  • Adherence to laws and best practices regarding dealings with financial service customers and data.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Treat AI tools as a force multiplier rather than a novelty, and have strong instincts for when to lean on automation and when to slow down and think.

  • Be a balanced builder and thinker who genuinely enjoys both developing solutions and designing them.

  • Listen well, ask the right questions, and avoid jumping to conclusions.

  • Be a collaborative team player who can translate business needs into practical, scalable Salesforce solutions.

  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills with a thoughtful, analytical approach.

  • Be a quick learner, result-oriented, organized, and highly detail-oriented with strong follow-through skills.

  • Be productive and efficient under varying volumes of work and rapidly shifting priorities.

  • Have strong interpersonal skills, professional poise, and a true teamwork mentality.

  • Approach user training and support with a patient and enthusiastic attitude.

  • Demonstrate a high level of confidentiality, integrity, and discretion when working with sensitive customer and financial data.
