Overview
TRC is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated GIS Specialist to provide technical support for clients and fellow TRC staff. The GIS Specialist must have a minimum of 5 years of experience applying GIS technology to answer questions and solve problems. The GIS Specialist must have excellent communication and organizational skills to work as a member of a larger GIS team to complete project tasks. The GIS Specialist collaborates with project managers, clients, and directs the work of other GIS staff to ensure that quality and timely GIS support is provided on all projects. The GIS Specialist must keep abreast with current GIS technology will be responsible for discovering and implementing new technology with assistance from other members of the TRC GIS team.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
GIS Specialist will be responsible for day-to-day project execution and data deliverables. Projects and tasks may include but are not limited to data collection and integration, map production, advanced spatial analysis and database manipulation.
  • Process and validate customer provided data for import into GIS databases.
  • Analyze, validate and process data from the field in ArcGIS using standard and custom tools.
  • Generate data reports as needed to support projects.
  • Utilize in-house and client provided software.
  • Communicate with client / team members to determine data and deliverable requirements.
  • Develop, implement and follow standard procedures and processes.
  • Track and report on the status for each of our clients projects.
  • Working cooperatively with Project Managers and peers to complete assigned work.
  • Adhere to quality assurance standards.
  • Communicate with customer as needed to resolve data issues.
  • Use various GIS software (ESRI ArcGIS and Extensions), as well as various geographic data formats and standard data conversion and transformation methods, for geographic analysis.
  • Perform data model design and development tasks.
  • Update Geospatial data on an as-needed basis.
  • Understanding and implementing ESRI versions and versioning schemes.
  • Troubleshoot problems associated with existing GIS applications, tools and data.
  • Provide process oriented approach to project work.

Qualifications
Education:
Advanced degree or specialized education
Professional Experience:
Minimum 7+ years ArcGIS/GIS experience with emphasis in geoprocessing tasks, experience working in a versioned ArcSDE environment, knowledge of pipeline GIS practices, proficiency in use of Excel, MS Access and other Microsoft Office products, ability to lead others in varied and complex tasks, and ability to demonstrate initiative and assertiveness, the ability to plan and manage work in an efficient manner, and the ability to work well under stress and time pressures.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • MS Excel - Should have knowledge & do independently
  • MS Access - Should have knowledge & do independently
  • ArcGIS - Should have knowledge & do independently
  • SQL Language & Technical Writing - Should do with support
  • Development Languages, AutoCad, Microstation - Basic Knowledge
  • Stationing/Linear Referencing, TVC, Document Management, As-Built, Survey - Should have knowledge & do independently

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
