Basé à La Prairie, QC, le titulaire du poste relève du responsable des opérations et joue un rôle clé dans l’accompagnement technique tout au long du cycle de vie des projets, depuis l’analyse des besoins jusqu’au support terrain et au retour d’expérience.
Position Summary
The Technical Expert - GIS Substation Technologies serves as the technical reference for the commercial teams, project management teams, and site teams. Leveraging deep expertise in GIS substation assembly, maintenance, and repair, this role supports the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of projects while also contributing to business development and customer satisfaction.
Based in La Prairie, QC, the incumbent reports to the Operations Manager and plays a key role in providing technical support throughout the entire project lifecycle, from needs analysis to field support and lessons learned. Job Description

Responsabilités principales

Support aux équipes commerciales

  • Fournir un appui technique aux équipes commerciales dans l’analyse des besoins clients et la définition des solutions adaptées en technologies de postes GIS.
  • Participer à la préparation des offres techniques et à la validation de la faisabilité des travaux proposés.
  • Contribuer à l’évaluation des risques techniques, des contraintes d’exécution et des besoins en ressources.
  • Appuyer les présentations techniques auprès des clients et participer aux discussions afin de clarifier les exigences et les enjeux techniques.

Support aux équipes de gestion de projets

  • Collaborer avec les gestionnaires de projets pour planifier les activités techniques liées aux postes GIS.
  • Réviser les méthodes de travail, les séquences d’exécution et les plans d’intervention.
  • Conseiller les équipes projets sur les meilleures pratiques en installation, maintenance, réparation, essais et remise en service.
  • Identifier les risques techniques et proposer des mesures d’atténuation afin d’assurer le respect des échéanciers, des coûts, de la qualité et des exigences en santé-sécurité.
  • Participer à l’analyse des écarts techniques, à la résolution de problèmes et à la mise en place d’actions correctives.

Support aux équipes chantier

  • Agir comme expert de référence pour les équipes terrain lors des travaux de montage, maintenance, dépannage et réparation de postes GIS.
  • Fournir un support technique lors de situations complexes ou critiques sur chantier.
  • Veiller à l’application des procédures, standards de qualité, exigences techniques et règles de santé-sécurité.
  • Participer, au besoin, à des visites de chantier, à des inspections techniques et à des interventions spécialisées.
  • Soutenir la formation, le transfert de connaissances et le développement des compétences techniques des équipes chantier.

Amélioration continue et gouvernance technique

  • Participer à l’élaboration, la mise à jour et la standardisation des procédures, guides techniques et meilleures pratiques en lien avec les postes GIS.
  • Contribuer au retour d’expérience (lessons learned) à la suite des projets et interventions terrain.
  • Maintenir un haut niveau de connaissance des technologies, méthodes et pratiques applicables aux postes GIS.
  • Collaborer avec les parties prenantes internes afin d’améliorer la performance opérationnelle, la qualité d’exécution et la fiabilité des interventions.

Qualifications requises

  • Diplôme d’études collégiales, formation technique ou expérience équivalente dans un domaine pertinent tel que l’électricité, l’électromécanique ou toute autre discipline connexe.
  • Minimum de 10 ans d’expérience sur chantier en montage, maintenance et réparation de postes GIS.
  • Expertise démontrée des technologies de postes GIS et des pratiques d’intervention sur équipements haute tension.
  • Expérience significative en support technique à des équipes multidisciplinaires.
  • Bonne compréhension des enjeux de sécurité, de qualité, de planification et d’exécution sur chantier.
  • Capacité à analyser des problèmes techniques complexes et à recommander des solutions pratiques et efficaces.
  • Excellentes aptitudes en communication et en collaboration.
  • Maîtrise du français; la connaissance de l’anglais constitue un atout.
  • Disponibilité pour se déplacer occasionnellement sur les chantiers, selon les besoins opérationnels.

Key Responsibilities

Support to Commercial Teams

  • Provide technical support to commercial teams in analyzing customer needs and defining suitable GIS substation technology solutions.
  • Participate in the preparation of technical proposals and validate the feasibility of the proposed scope of work.
  • Contribute to the assessment of technical risks, execution constraints, and resource requirements.
  • Support technical presentations to customers and participate in discussions to clarify technical requirements and challenges.

Support to Project Management Teams

  • Work closely with project managers to plan technical activities related to GIS substations.
  • Review work methods, execution sequences, and intervention plans.
  • Advise project teams on best practices for installation, maintenance, repair, testing, and commissioning.
  • Identify technical risks and recommend mitigation measures to ensure compliance with schedule, cost, quality, and health & safety requirements.
  • Participate in the analysis of technical deviations, problem-solving, and implementation of corrective actions.

Support to Site Teams

  • Act as the technical expert and point of reference for field teams during GIS substation assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
  • Provide technical support in complex or critical site situations.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures, quality standards, technical requirements, and health & safety rules.
  • Participate, as needed, in site visits, technical inspections, and specialized interventions.
  • Support training, knowledge transfer, and technical capability development of site teams.

Continuous Improvement and Technical Governance

  • Participate in the development, update, and standardization of procedures, technical guides, and best practices related to GIS substations.
  • Contribute to lessons learned following projects and field interventions.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of technologies, methods, and practices applicable to GIS substations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve operational performance, execution quality, and intervention reliability.

Required Qualifications

  • College diploma, technical training, or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as electrical, electromechanical, or another related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of field experience in GIS substation assembly, maintenance, and repair.
  • Demonstrated expertise in GIS substation technologies and intervention practices on high-voltage equipment.
  • Significant experience providing technical support to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong understanding of safety, quality, planning, and execution challenges on site.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems and recommend practical and effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Fluency in French; English is considered an asset.
  • Availability to travel occasionally to job sites, depending on operational needs.
