About the Role:

Synergy Business Innovation & Solutions, Inc. is seeking a highly qualified GIS Developer to support the United States Coast Guard (USCG). This role combines maritime-domain awareness with hands-on geographic information systems, data integration, and data-engineering capabilities.

Working in coordination with project management, the GIS Developer will create novel solutions to meet the demands of the USCG, public, and USCG partner agencies, in addition to supporting engagement among government stakeholders, operational users, developers, engineers, and geospatial professionals. The role:

  • Translates mission and operational needs into effective technical requirements and solution designs.
  • Implements cross-functional solutions within the ESRI suite of products and USCG enterprise systems
  • Aligns development decisions with broader Marine Safety Information modernization efforts, standards, and requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Strong knowledge of ESRI products
  • Understanding of GIS databases and database architectures
  • Understanding of GIS web and web map services
  • GISP or ESRI Technical Certifications
  • Designs, implements and maintains GIS solutions.
  • Experience with multiple GIS solutions preferred.
  • Experience with GIS solution design and maintenance required.Experience with writing code to interface with ArcGIS solutions required.
  • Designs, develops, enhances, debugs, and implements software.
  • Troubleshoots production problems related to software applications.
  • Researches, tests, build, and coordinate the conversion and/or integration of new products based on client requirements.
  • Addresses problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms.
  • Consults with project teams and end users to identify application requirements.
  • Performs feasibility analysis on potential future projects to management.
  • Assists in the evaluation and recommendation of application software packages, application integration and testing tools.
  • Resolves problems with software and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
  • Acts as team leader on projects.
  • Instructs, assigns, directs, and checks the work of others on the development team.
  • Participates in development of software user manuals and technical reports.

  • Advanced Geospatial Skills: Formal training or certifications in ESRI ArcGIS technologies and geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) analysis.

Target Salary Range

Compensation for roles at Synergy is determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the requirements of the role; level of experience; education and certifications; the individual’s combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities; as well as alignment with market data, federal and state laws, and other business and contract considerations. The estimated pay range for this position is: $110,000.00 – $130,000.00. The disclosed range has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case and represent just one component of Synergy’s total compensation package for employees.
