ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborates with Senior Engineers and other staff in the design, analysis, and evaluation of engineering systems, components, and processes using applicable engineering software, calculations, modeling, and simulations.
  • Independently develops engineering design plans, specifications, reports, and technical documentation for water and wastewater projects as part of a project team.
  • Collects, processes, and analyzes data; evaluates alternative solutions; and prepares technical reports and design documents to support engineering recommendations and conclusions.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate engineering drawings, specifications, reports, calculations, and other project documentation in accordance with project requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Assists with project planning, budgets, schedules, resource forecasting, cost tracking, and project closeout activities.
  • Identifies and troubleshoots technical issues and collaborates with project teams to develop effective solutions within established project requirements, budgets, and schedules.
  • Coordinates construction project submittals, deliverables, reviews, and approvals to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Coordinates with GIS and Survey departments to obtain topographic, location, boundary, record plan, and other information necessary for project planning, design, and permitting.
  • Requests, reviews, and evaluates proposals from consultants and contractors.
  • Reviews development plans submitted by outside consultants and engineers and checks engineering design calculations for compliance with company standards and specifications.
  • Researches engineering topics, regulations, technologies, and industry practices and prepares reports or presentations to communicate findings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to acquire one within 2 years required.
  • A valid driver's license with clean driving record in accordance with company and insurance standards
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional engineering experience as a licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and applicable engineering software.
  • Ability to independently analyze complex engineering problems, exercise sound judgment, and develop effective technical solutions.
  • Ability to collect, interpret, and analyze technical data and reach sound conclusions in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations and engineering standards.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to employees, departments, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with engineering design, construction management, project coordination, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with GIS, surveying data, engineering modeling, and design software.
  • Experience reviewing consultant and contractor proposals, plans, specifications, and technical submittals.
