About the role
  • Cloudpoint Geospatial is looking for a GIS Technician to provide project support through GPS field data collection, map creation, and geospatial data editing. The ideal candidate will have experience with hands-on use of survey equipment or GPS tools for data collection. The GIS Technician must be willing to travel throughout the country with occasional weekly trips. What you'll do
  • Onsite field work involving data collection, data entry, condition assessments, and various location-based measurements.
  • Use LiDAR scanning equipment and GNSS equipment for data collection.
  • Perform GIS data maintenance, analysis, entry, and conversion; perform data research, investigation, and verification; assist with solving technical problems and determining possible solutions.
  • Create, maintain, and update digital maps, drawings, plans, spreadsheets, data files, and documentation for a variety of uses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with a focus on geography, engineering, planning, computer science, a related field.
  • 2+ years relevant experience may be considered in lieu of college education.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Applications and the ability to learn new hardware and software components.
  • Ability to work individually as well as in a team environment.
  • Maintain a clean driving record and be capable of operating technical equipment.
  • The ability to travel regionally including occasional overnight stays (up to 30%). Travel will be frequent during the summer months.

Desired Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of data collection experience in the field.
  • Experience manipulating geospatial data using Esri software.
  • Experience in GNSS, LiDAR, or UAS and data capture technologies.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace Applications.

Work Context:
  • Work operating a computer in an office (or home office) setting.
  • Work in the field under varying weather conditions requiring walking and lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Frequently communicates with coworkers and clients about project work and must be able to clearly exchange accurate information in these situations.
