Job description

JOB SUMMARY: As an Abbey Resort associate, you will have the opportunity to be part of an incredible team at an all service resort situated on the beautiful shores of Geneva Lake. We aim to hire individuals who are ready and committed to exceed the expectation of every guest by genuinely creating lasting memories, maintaining a positive attitude and by providing outstanding service every time.
BASIC FUNCTION: The Gift Shop Associate is responsible for tending to and assisting guests as they inquire about merchandise.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must have command of the English language, written and verbal.
• Must be able to organize time effectively and be flexible and work extended hours if necessary.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Basic computer usage skills.
• Able to stand for extended periods of time (90 percent of shift).
• Able to lift 35 pounds
• Good hearing and vision with or without corrective lenses.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Obtain and verify bank and open register.
• Request change order if needed.
• Assist customers in selection of merchandise.
• Respond to guests' needs and relay comments to supervisor.
• Collect and process cash/charges using computerized Micros System.
• Check in, inspect, and tag new merchandise.
• Restock merchandise.
• Close out Micros System; count bank, balance and return.
• Display merchandise in shop and windows.
• Gift-wrap packages as needed.
• Take monthly inventory.
• List merchandise to be ordered.
• Vacuum, dust and straighten shop.
• Move racks as needed.
• Hang, ticket and steam clothes.
• Maintain store supplies, i.e., register paper, bags, etc. and put request into manager.
• Answer telephones and take messages.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
• Effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
• Required to perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
• Scheduled hours may vary on business needs and may or may not include holidays, weekends, various shifts, overtime or reduced hours.
• Perform other duties as requested by Gift Shop Manager.
• Punch in and report to the Gift Shop Manager and/or Assistant Gift Shop Manager on time and in full uniform for each shift. Obtain manager's approval prior to punching out.
