Job description

In furtherance of our goals, we are currently seeking a Project Engineer to support our sustainability corporate programs.
The Home and Personal Care Sustainability Lead supports the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Team through the implementation and continuous improvement of CCL Industries' sustainability strategy within the Home and Personal Care division. This role ensures that corporate sustainability goals, compliance and reporting requirements, and initiatives are effectively rolled out at the division and site levels. The Sustainability Lead acts as a key link between the CSR Team and plant operations, helping to collect data, ensure product compliance, coordinate projects, and promote engagement on sustainability topics. This role bridges technical expertise with corporate sustainability strategy by identifying improvement opportunities, executing projects, and tracking measurable performance outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Project Management
    • Lead the design, implementation, and commissioning of sustainability-focused projects (e.g., energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation, renewable energy, or carbon reduction initiatives).
    • Develop business cases, technical specifications, and cost-benefit analyses for sustainability projects.
    • Coordinate cross-functional teams, vendors, and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery aligned with CSR Team sustainability goals.
    • Track progress of sustainability action plans at plant level and report status to divisional leadership.

Data Collection & Ecometrica Support
    • Coordinate the collection and verification of division level sustainability data in alignment with CCL's global reporting systems and timelines.
    • Assist the CSR team in increased renewable energy procurement through contracting of RECs, vPPAs and more within the Home and Personal Care division.
    • Evaluate new technologies and materials to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
    • Evaluate Ecometrica workflows striving for efficiency improvements in line with evolving reporting guidelines.

Product Compliance
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer compliance inquiries and questionnaires.
    • Interpret current and emerging global packaging, chemical, and environmental regulations and translate them into guidance for internal teams.
    • Communicate with sites, suppliers, and account managers to lead end-to-end product compliance, ensuring adherence to California Prop 65, REACH SVHC, RoHS, MOSH, PFAS, etc.
    • Develop and manage compliance documentation such as Declarations of Conformity, technical files, testing documentation, and customer-requested compliance statements, ensuring all files are consistently up-to-date.
    • Lead software management and supplier onboarding for document collection.
    • Collaborate with product teams to evaluate new materials, inks, adhesives, and technologies for regulatory compliance implications.
    • Proactively monitor changes in regulatory compliance requirements.
    • Partner with CSR and Legal teams to ensure product claims (recyclability, recycled content, PFAS, etc) are evidence-based and aligned with anti-greenwashing and sustainability standards.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, Engineering or a related field.
  • 2 - 5 years of engineering or project management experience, preferably with exposure to sustainability, energy, or environmental initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of LCA, GHG accounting, and Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to an evolving field

Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000, depending on experience, education and industry knowledge.
