Job description

Geotech - Core Processing
Primarily will be responsible for processing core samples from exploration drilling program . Will c ollaborate with the Geologist on site to prioritize tasks.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • C ore management - checking run markers, labelling, and ordering boxes and sample groups . Inform the geology team of any problems with the core or with the core processing procedures. Core sampling labeling, ordering, and recording inventory information.
  • Drill core sawing and/or drill core hydraulic splitting. Sample intervals are guided by marked geologist's listed instructions.
  • Mark identification on sample bags according to Geologist's sample listed instruction.
  • Sampled intervals of one-half or one quarter core returned to core boxes and sample bags guided by marked geologist's listed instructions .
  • Sample core boxes ordered and moved to pallet storage and grouping s ample bags for truck transfer .
  • General housekeeping of the core warehouse work area and maintain a tidy workplace.
  • Other duties around the warehouse as required.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
  • Self-motivated, dependable , strong attention to details, and a d emonstrated commitment to safety, environment, and community.
  • Good verbal and written communication and literacy skills.
  • Using r equired hearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hearing protection, face , eye, and foot protection ( steel toe boots) .
  • Knowledge of Excel databases is considered an asset.
  • Able to stand while working for extended periods , and able to lift and carry core boxes and bags of samples (up to 65 lbs.) .
  • Bending, lifting, and placing materials to and from table, cart, roller, and warehouse floor .
  • Safely operating a pallet jack and/or forklift to arrange loaded pallets and loading pallets to truck bed.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • A current, valid NV driver's license is an asset.
  • Prefer p revious work experience in the exploration/mining industry is an asset.
