Job description

Responsibilities

ECS is hiring a Geotechnical Project Manager to support GDOT transportation and highway construction programs across the Atlanta metro area. This role focuses on technical review, design coordination, and delivery of geotechnical engineering work products that support roadway, bridge, and corridor projects. If you enjoy turning subsurface data into clear recommendations, coordinating deliverables across multiple teams, and keeping schedules moving on active infrastructure programs, this role is built for that.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and QA/QC geotechnical engineering reports for transportation projects, including site characterization, engineering analyses, and design recommendations.
  • Review construction plans and geotechnical design elements for GDOT highway projects, aligning recommendations with project constraints, schedules, and constructability.
  • Manage project execution from kickoff through closeout, including scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with and manage subcontractors (drilling firms, labs, specialty consultants), including procurement support, oversight of schedules, and confirmation of deliverable quality.
  • Lead technical coordination with project stakeholders, including clients, design teams, and construction teams, to resolve geotechnical questions and provide timely solutions.
  • Support development of geotechnical scopes of work and fee estimates, including proposal writing, budget development, change orders, and invoicing.
  • Provide technical support related to common GDOT geotechnical deliverables such as:
  • Subsurface exploration planning (borings, test pits, sampling, lab test programs)
  • Soil and rock classification and interpretation of lab results
  • Recommendations related to earthwork, embankments, subgrades, settlement, slope stability, retaining walls, ground improvement, and foundations
  • Documentation that supports transportation design and construction
  • Track and communicate project priorities and deadlines, escalating risks early and keeping deliverables on schedule.
  • Partner with leadership on client relationship building and repeat work growth in the GDOT and municipal transportation market.
