Geospatial Manager information

What is a geospatial manager?

A Geospatial Manager is a professional who oversees the collection, analysis, and management of geographic data using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and related technologies. They lead teams that work with mapping, spatial data, and geospatial analytics to support decision-making in fields like urban planning, environmental management, and logistics. Geospatial Managers are responsible for project planning, resource allocation, and ensuring data quality and integrity. They also collaborate with other departments to integrate geospatial insights into broader organizational strategies.

How does a geospatial manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams within an organization?

A Geospatial Manager frequently works alongside departments such as engineering, urban planning, environmental science, and IT to align geospatial data and analysis with broader organizational goals. This role often involves leading meetings to gather requirements, sharing insights from spatial data, and ensuring that mapping solutions meet project needs. Effective communication and the ability to translate technical findings into actionable recommendations are crucial, as the Geospatial Manager serves as a bridge between technical staff and non-technical stakeholders.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a geospatial manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Geospatial Manager, you need expertise in geographic information systems (GIS), spatial data analysis, and project management, typically backed by a degree in geography, GIS, or related fields. Proficiency with GIS software (such as ArcGIS or QGIS), remote sensing tools, and data visualization platforms, along with relevant certifications like GISP, is highly valued. Leadership, problem-solving, and effective communication are essential soft skills for managing teams and collaborating with stakeholders. These skills ensure accurate spatial data analysis, efficient project delivery, and strategic decision-making in organizations relying on geospatial information.

Job description

Description:

EMPASS TECHNOLOGY, LLC

PRODUCT

Product Manager — Platform & Infrastructure

Location: New York, NY (HQ) — hybrid; remote considered for exceptional candidates · Reports to: VP of Product · Scope: Vertical ownership

ABOUT EMPASS 2.0

Empass is building the operating system for modern healthcare — one platform spanning clinical care (CareConnect), pharmacy (EmpassRx), diagnostics (EmpassDx), home health and gig nursing (EmpassRN), sleep medicine, a nationwide community health navigation network (CBOs, faith organizations, schools, LULAC councils), life sciences commercial engagement, and embedded fintech (EmpassPay/EmpassFin).

Most healthcare startups pick one wedge and stay there. We've built six interoperable segments on shared architecture instead: a Closed-Loop Referral Engine that works identically whether a community organization refers someone to a physician or a DME company fulfills a wheelchair order; a Scope of Practice Matrix that correctly governs every provider type from physicians to community health workers across every state; an NPI-based identity system that recognizes a provider across every segment they touch, so a lab director applying to a second segment doesn't start from zero.

This isn't a pitch deck. We have signed contracts, real customers, and a hiring plan built against actual revenue — this role exists because this specific vertical is already generating business that needs staffing, not because we're speculating about future headcount.

If you want to build category-defining healthcare infrastructure at a company proving out product-market fit in real time — with the compliance rigor of a much larger company and the ownership of a much earlier one — this is that company.

Base Salary: $160,000–$185,000 Variable: 15% annual bonus target, capped OTE: $198,375

What You'll Own: EmpassCore, Provider Availability & Location Engine, M-Path1

You own the roadmap for the shared services every other vertical depends on — this is an internal-platform product role with no direct AM counterpart, since these systems aren't sold on their own.

The Impact You'll Make: You have no customers of your own — every other PM on this roster is your customer. When you ship the Provider Availability & Location Engine correctly, a nurse's location stops tracking the second she goes off shift, automatically, everywhere on the platform, without five other teams having to remember to build that themselves.

Key Responsibilities

Own roadmap for shared services — NPI Lookup, audit chain, KMS, and the Provider Availability & Location Engine used platform-wide

Coordinate with all 5 other PMs, since changes here ripple into every customer-facing vertical

Prioritize the Uber-style location/availability model rollout across EmpassRN, CareConnect, and M-Path1

Work with Eng Lead 5 on an overwhelmingly backend-heavy roadmap (8 EmpassCore modules, real-time geospatial engine)

Requirements:

Requirements

6+ years product management experience, platform/infrastructure product experience strongly preferred

Comfort with a roadmap where your primary stakeholders are other PMs, not external customers directly

Working knowledge of identity/access, event-driven architecture, or geospatial systems a strong plus
