The Opportunity
We're seeking a motivated GIS/GPS Technician to join our geospatial team. This hands-on role combines fieldwork and office-based analysis, giving you the opportunity to work with the latest GPS technology while building essential GIS skills. You'll be responsible for collecting accurate field data, processing and integrating it into our GIS databases, and creating professional maps that support real-world decision-making. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their GIS career seeking practical experience with modern geospatial technologies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collect high-accuracy GPS data in the field using industry-standard equipment and mobile GIS applications.
  • Verify asset locations and document field conditions across various project sites.
  • Process and integrate GPS data into enterprise GIS databases, ensuring data quality and accuracy.
  • Create professional maps and data visualizations using ArcGIS Pro for project deliverables.
  • Manage data workflows using Excel, Access, and geodatabases to maintain organized spatial information.
  • Digitize features from engineering plans, as-built drawings, and survey documents.
  • Support senior analysts with spatial analysis tasks and project coordination.

Qualifications
  • Associate's degree (or equivalent coursework) in Geography, GIS, Geomatics, Environmental Science, or related field-OR 1-2 years of hands-on GIS experience (internships count).
  • Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS software (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, or ArcGIS Online).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and database software for data management.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly to field sites.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills for working with field crews, engineers, and clients.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience with GPS/GNSS data collection equipment (Trimble, Eos, Bad Elf, or similar).
  • Familiarity with mobile data collection apps (Survey123, Collector, Field Maps).
  • Basic Python scripting or data automation experience.
  • Knowledge of CAD software or understanding of coordinate systems and projections.
  • Understanding of surveying or engineering principles.
