Job description

Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. As a systems development engineer, you will work on a variety of projects and multifunctional groups deeply involved in link budget analysis, signal processing, and RF testing and validation. You will also be involved in system-level integration of ground-based and user terminal subsystems that enable next-generation Amazon Leo satellite communication services.
This is a unique opportunity to apply geospatial analysis and machine learning techniques to RF datasets to help troubleshoot, solve, and improve communication links in space and improve the lives of customers

The team works with customer requirements and wireless implementation teams to develop, automate, and execute test cases including antenna pointing algorithms, handover scenarios, and direct-to-device (DTD) link verification-for state-of-the-art satellite communication ground systems and user terminals.
In this role you will:
-Design, build, and support remote sensor data collection pipelines from space-based RF communication links for geospatial analysis
-Implement best practices for storing, searching, and analyzing terabytes of IQ data streams from multiple ground sites around the world
-Implement life-cycle management strategies for large RF domain data sets
-Apply knowledge of geospatial analysis techniques to identify patterns and issues for RF links in space
-Apply AI/ML techniques for detecting RF and PHY performance anomalies from satellites on orbit
-Work with communication systems engineers to automate scientific instruments to validate RF communication links in a lab environment
-Integrate real-world data such as weather forecasts and terrain into link budget prediction models
-Support DTD integration efforts through test automation, link budget analysis, and troubleshooting HW/SW interfaces
