Job description


SUMMARY
Mortenson is seeking a Supply Chain Manager I who will be responsible for supporting the vision, direction, and day to day operations of the Supply Chain organization. You will work closely with operations teams and suppliers to plan, coordinate, and execute Supply Chain activities. You will be responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of materials to meet project timelines and requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supply Chain Operations and Strategy
    • Responsible for managing and implementing short and long-term sourcing strategies to achieve business objectives for the Supply Chain function and contribute to Company-wide strategy.
    • Define and direct sourcing initiatives in alignment with strategic plans and supply chain strategies.
    • Negotiate and maintain contracts and agreements with key suppliers and service providers, ensuring quality, reliability, and competitiveness.
    • Establish strong and effective relationships with key suppliers (existing and new) to ensure quality, cost, delivery, and productivity, while leveraging the combined buying power of Mortenson's operations
    • Collaborate across all business functions to formulate, implement, and execute sourcing and continuous improvement strategies.
    • Monitor and analyze industry trends and lead the implementation of best practices for supply chain
    • Provide centralized leadership to designated aspects of construction project-specific procurement and identify aspects that necessitate independent, site-level procurement
    • When selling materials, lead contract negotiations with assigned customers. Ensure contract compliance
    • Provide strategy guidance to category team on project proposals
    • Identify and mitigate supply risks related to sole-source dependencies, geopolitical events, tariffs, logistics constraints, and supplier financial health
    • Provide executive reporting on supply chain health, risks, and mitigation strategies
    • Demand forecasting and capacity modeling
    • Risk assessment and mitigation

  • People Leadership
    • Lead the work of buyer team, while establishing strategies for sourcing and supply chain with process excellence focus.
    • Foster teamwork, collaboration, and integration within Supply Chain and across Mortenson to provide cohesive solutions and ensure effective delivery of strategy.
    • Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performance.
    • Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
    • Champion superior customer service by ensuring a customer focused approach and strong service orientation.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, construction management or equivalent

  • Knowledge of construction processes, equipment and materials, purchasing processes and procedures

  • Interpret technical specifications for electrical, mechanical, and IT infrastructure.

The base pay range for this role is $107,200 - $160,800. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
