Job Summary
ConocoPhillips is seeking an NGL Market Analyst to support our growing Natural Gas Liquids commercial business. This role provides fundamental market analysis and insights that help inform trading, marketing, optimization, and business development decisions across our North American and global NGL portfolio.
Working closely with traders, schedulers, commercial teams, and business development professionals, the successful candidate will analyze market fundamentals, identify emerging opportunities, develop forecasting models, and provide actionable insights that support commercial value creation across domestic and international markets.
Position Overview
Your Responsibilities may include:
Market Analysis & Forecasting
  • Monitor and analyze domestic and international NGL markets, including ethane, propane, normal butane, isobutane, and natural gasoline
  • Develop and maintain supply and demand forecasts, market balances, and other analytical models to evaluate market trends and opportunities
  • Analyze key market drivers, including production growth, gas processing activity, fractionation economics, petrochemical demand, infrastructure constraints, and export market dynamics
  • Track NGL export flows, arbitrage opportunities, vessel activity, terminal utilization, and destination market developments
  • Assess the impact of weather events, geopolitical developments, regulatory changes, tariffs, and evolving market fundamentals
  • Identify emerging trends and develop actionable recommendations for commercial and trading teams
  • Utilize statistical, quantitative, and data analytics techniques to enhance market forecasting and decision-making

Commercial & Trading Support
  • Partner with traders and commercial teams to evaluate market opportunities, pricing relationships, and arbitrage economics
  • Support strategic initiatives aimed at optimizing and growing ConocoPhillips's NGL portfolio and commercial presence
  • Provide analytical support for new commercial opportunities, transactions, and business development initiatives
  • Assist with ad hoc market analysis and special projects supporting commercial decision making

Insights & Communication
  • Prepare and present regular market updates, forecasts, and research to commercial leadership and trading teams
  • Translate complex market data into clear and actionable business insights
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations that support commercial strategy and decision-making

Basic/Required:
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Economics, Finance, Business, Engineering, Energy Studies, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or a related discipline
  • 3 or more years of experience in energy markets, commodities analysis, trading analytics, commercial operations, consulting, business development, market research, or a related field
  • Experience working with Excel and at least one analytical tool such as Python, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, R, or similar platforms
  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills

Preferred:
  • Experience analyzing NGL, natural gas, petrochemical, refined products, LNG, crude oil, or related energy markets
  • Experience using market intelligence and pricing platforms such as Argus, Platts, Bloomberg, Reuters Eikon, Wood Mackenzie, East Daley, or similar services
  • Experience building forecasting models, market balances, or commercial analytics tools
  • Knowledge of NGL market fundamentals, including production, fractionation, transportation, storage, exports, and end-use demand
  • Familiarity with key pricing hubs, including Mont Belvieu and Conway
  • Knowledge of statistical, econometric, machine learning, or predictive modeling techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to convert market insights into commercial recommendations
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Listens actively and invites new ideas for exchanged opinions, then influences and acts to drive positive performance and achieve results
  • Builds positive relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries to achieve goals
