Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Early Career Geologist to join our Syracuse, New York office. This entry-level role offers a blend of office-based work and field assignments, supporting a diverse portfolio of environmental projects.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers on projects that protect natural resources and promote sustainable communities.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases for a wide range of multidisciplinary environmental projects under commercial, State, and Federal programs.
  • Support environmental assessments and investigations involving soil (surface and subsurface), bedrock, groundwater, surface water, and soil vapor.
  • Conduct field sampling and provide oversight on environmental and construction-related projects.
  • Enter, review, and manage field and laboratory data; assist with data quality control.
  • Assist with the preparation of work plans, technical reports, and project documentation.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Hydrology, Geosciences, or a related field.
  • Education or work experience with environmental consulting, including field-sampling procedures, monitoring well installation, analytical data interpretation, and reporting.
  • Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites located in the Northeastern United States.

Note:  This position requires specific driving duties. You must be able to pass a motor vehicle records check required by our insurer.

Desired Qualifications
  • Current OSHA HAZWOPER and First Aid/CPR certifications preferred.
  • Geologist-in-Training (GIT) certification.
  • Experience with environmental remediation projects and sampling of environmental media. EPA, State (NYSDEC), and Federal DoD experience is strongly preferred.
