Job description

About The Role:
CBRE's Strategy and Business Intelligence team is a small group of elite professionals whose mandate is to deeply study key questions that impact our business and help us make evidence-based decisions. While this capability already exists at some prominent global companies in other industries, it is a first for the commercial real estate sector and is helping CBRE further extend its competitive advantage.
The Director, Strategy role will work directly with the senior members of the Strategy team, be supported as needed by Analyst roles within the team, and interface with senior leadership across the CBRE Group of businesses. This person will be an integral team member in delivering and driving unmatched insights from traditional and alternative data as well as managing sprint projects that address strategic questions, the answers to which will have a meaningful impact on the trajectory of company. The role requires someone with a multidisciplinary background (preferred top tier Consulting experience), a passion for data and insights, a creative mindset, exceptional strategic and critical thinking skills, and an ability to stay focused in a dynamic environment with multiple projects and initiatives.
What You'll Do:
  • Project management and execution of highly strategic, impactful and time bound internal consulting projects that involve:
  • Execution of company and industry research as well as delivering insights on new trends and developments shaping the future of global commercial real estate industry
  • Run financial/statistical models and data analysis as well as visualization of internal data, (e.g., Finance, Research, line of business operational data)
  • External data, (e.g., Industry reports, public filings)
  • Alternative data, (e.g., geolocation data)
  • Initiating and executing high visibility initiatives such as Competitive Intelligence tracking, measurement of performance against strategic priorities, and other projects that directly impact and influence resource deployment
  • Working closely with the Group's leadership team as well as stakeholders in other Segments/Lines of Business and Corporate Functions
  • Preparing and delivering presentations that deliver key insights and explain the process/approach/model to get to those insights in easy-to-understand language
  • Lead and/or participate in time-bound sprint projects that help the Company frame the right questions on a variety of subjects (e.g., Strategy, Operations, Innovation, M&A Organization, etc.), driving insight through rigorous analysis and logic and building consensus around the direction
  • Help the Group create and maintain effective internal and external partnerships
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary within a lean group setting to continuously outperform and exceed expectations

What You'll Need:
To perform this job successfully, an individual will need to perform each crucial duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Business, Engineering, Data Science and/or Business Analytics from a top tier educational institution. MBA/master's degree/Certificate in relevant fields will be preferred. Very strong academic track record
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience. Prior experience in Consulting, Investment Banking and/or Private Equity will be preferred
  • Fluency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Familiarity with Business Analytics tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, and AI will be a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and an insatiable learner. You stay ahead of industry trends. You find yourself reading, thinking, and talking insights from data that are unique and impactful
