Job description

Job Title: LPN Research Coordinator
Department: Precision Medicine
Location: 100 Kings Highway South Rochester, NY
Hours Per Week: 40
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8a-430p
SUMMARY
The Research Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the implementation of Helix, a cutting-edge genomics platform, as part of the health system's precision medicine initiatives. This role will focus on coordinating research activities, ensuring compliance with ethical standards, and facilitating the successful integration of Helix into clinical and research workflows. Responsibilities also include overseeing participant engagement and data management. The Research Coordinator will report to the Director, Precision Medicine and collaborate closely with Helix and other research stakeholders, to ensure seamless study execution and adherence to best practices in precision medicine research.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage day-to-day research activities related to the rollout of Helix, including participant recruitment, data collection, and study documentation.
• Collaborate with clinicians, researchers, and operational teams, in partnership with the Director, Precision Medicine, to design and implement research protocols aligned with Helix's capabilities.
• Monitor study progress to ensure timelines and milestones are met.
• Prepare and submit protocols, amendments, and reports to Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) and other regulatory bodies.
• Ensure all research activities adhere to federal, state, and institutional guidelines for human subjects' research, including genomic data privacy and security.
• Develop and distribute educational materials for patients, families, and participants about the Helix platform and precision medicine initiatives.
• Obtain informed consent from participants and address any questions or concerns about genomic testing and data use.
• Oversee the collection, storage, and management of research data, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
• Work with IT and Helix representatives, in partnership with the Director, Precision Medicine, to integrate genomic data into secure systems for analysis and clinical use.
• Utilize patient engagement strategies and inform the Director of successes and challenges to improve study engagement.
• Serve as a resource for clinicians and researchers involved in Helix-related studies.
• Coordinate regular meetings with stakeholders, including Helix representatives, to address project updates and challenges.
• Assist in preparing presentations, reports, and publications, in partnership with the Director, Precision Medicine, to disseminate findings from Helix implementation projects.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in a health related field.
• 2+ years of experience in either clinical practice or research studies.
OR
• Associate's (or practical nurse diploma) degree in a health related field and 4+ years of experience in either clinical practice or research studies required.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
• Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program training required within 30 days of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., clinical research, genomics, or public health) preferred.
• Experience in genomics or precision medicine preferred.
• Familiarity with IRB processes, human subjects' research, and genomic data management.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for patient and stakeholder engagement.
• Attention to detail and proficiency in data entry and management systems.
• Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience using the Epic EHR system
