The Sr. Genomics Sales Specialist is a customer-facing member of the sales team focused on developing relationships with key influencers, meeting sales targets, and acting as a technical resource around the PacBio portfolio in support of a team of account managers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet or exceed revenue targets from sale of PacBio instrumentation and consumables in the defined territory through the creation and closing of new business opportunities.

  • Utilize a CRM system according to standard protocols for pipeline management, and communicate with field and internal personnel around opportunity development.

  • Represents the company professionally, scientifically, ethically, and morally at all times.

  • Reads, understands, and communicates key findings from current scientific publications as well as technical information on PacBio products to the sales team and customers.

  • Maintains a broad knowledge of the market environment including current and possible future market trends, applications, and competition.

  • Develop and deliver workshops and seminars both in-person and virtually to a wide range of audiences.

  • Works closely with teams across the commercial organization as an overlay Sales Specialist, including but not limited to Territory Account Managers, Insides Sales Reps, and District Sales Managers to support them in achieving both strategic and revenue goals.

  • Regularly trains others in the sales team on both product applications, relevant scientific information, and market/competitive trends.

  • Assists District Sales Manager and Territory Account Managers with the development of customized territory plans.

  • Identifies, develops and maintains long term customer relationships.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Biological Sciences, Genetics, Genomics, or related, is required.

  • Minimum 3+ years customer facing sales experience selling into the life science/Genomics and/or clinical research markets or equivalent direct field-based customer facing role required.

  • Competitive nature, highly motivated, independent individual with a proven track record of consistently achieving sales targets and being a significant contributor to territory growth.

  • Self-starter with a strong desire to prospect and win business while establishing long term customer relationships.

  • Strong public speaking skills with the ability to handle objections and communicate both technical and business arguments.

  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal communication skills, combined with excellent writing and editing skills.

  • Highly networked and comfortable interacting with audiences of all levels including C-suite.

  • Role will require a home office within the defined territory and ~50% travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D or Masters in Biological Sciences, Genetics, Genomics, or related is preferred.

  • Strong technical expert on relevant Next Generation Sequencing applications and technologies in the research and/or clinical markets.

  • Experience working as an overlay in a matrixed sales environment.

  • Knowledge in applicable genomics related bioinformatics tools and data analysis.

Candidates must have current authorization to work in the United States without the need for present or future sponsorship.
