Job Summary:
The Production Technician is responsible for supporting general seed production activities throughout different seasons of the year. Responsibilities include seed receiving, conditioning, treating, packaging, warehousing, shipping, equipment maintenance, and field operations. This position works as part of the production team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Assist with seed production activities including receiving, conditioning, treating, packaging, warehousing, and shipping operations.
  • Operate production equipment under established procedures and work instructions.
  • Assist with field operations, inspections, scouting, planting, and detasseling activities as needed.
  • Assist with bulk seed movement and inventory management.
  • Prepare containers and packaging materials, including washing and repairs when applicable.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance and housekeeping activities.
  • Complete production paperwork and records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Verify product, inventory, and shipment accuracy.
  • Demonstrate commitment to all company safety policies and actively participate in safety initiatives, training, and incident prevention activities.
  • Follow established quality procedures and support compliance with company quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in cross-training activities to support operational flexibility and business continuity.
  • Perform assigned duties to meet company quality standards.
  • Maintain housekeeping of production and warehouse areas.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Promote a positive image of the company and act in accordance with company values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This role does not have formal supervisory responsibilities such as hiring, performance management, or disciplinary actions.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 65 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work assigned hours and shifts, including overtime and seasonal schedules as needed.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, wet, and dry conditions.
  • Ability to walk seed fields up to five miles per day.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment and machinery used in production operations.
