Job description

Job Summary: The Social Worker-MSW assesses clients for initial transplant suitability and re-evaluates candidates as directed.  Counsels clients and facilitates group therapy.  Provides assistance to patients and their families in the forms diagnostic evaluation, individual, family & group therapeutic counseling and resource referral.  Refers clients to community resources to enhance compliance with a complex long term medical regimen.  These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals.  Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Master's Degree in social work.  Minimum one year experience in clinical setting required. Minimum one year of previous counseling experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Able to use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position; operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; follow policies consistently; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction.  Able to positively and effectively manage complex interpersonal relations with patients and staff.  Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently and with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail.  Works independently without direct supervision.  Able to distinguish colors as necessary; write, hear, read and speak sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with workplace; see adequately to read computer screens and written documents necessary to the position.
