7:00am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday
Overview
The Mechanical Engineer will manage multiple genset projects from design through production, supporting drawings, technical decisions, and execution along the way. This role is hands-on and closely tied to the shop-designing solutions, resolving issues, and keeping work moving.
You'll work directly with production to troubleshoot build issues, answer technical questions, and support on-time delivery. The role also provides practical engineering support to sales, field service, and customers to ensure packaged systems meet application and performance requirements.
Close collaboration with operations, supply chain, quality and customers is required to fully understand each project and deliver solutions that function in the real world-not just on paper.
Basic Duties
  • Design, develop, validate products and applications for generator set packages.
  • Review project documents for compliance with project requirements/specification.
  • Provide engineering support to field service technicians and sales personnel as necessary.
  • Provide application support to customers and engineers when needed.
  • Provide support to the production shop to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Prepare project submittals as required per specs for equipment approval and subsequent release.
  • Assist sales team with providing accurate quotes.
  • Design and evaluate custom components or systems for unique customer applications.
  • Ensure projects stay on schedule and leave a satisfied customer/end user
  • Additional responsibilities and functions may be needed to meet customer and organizational needs.

Qualifications
  • B.S. in Engineering (preferred) or equivalent work experience. A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the engine and power generation industry or in closely a related technology field.
  • Experience with Inventor preferred (or similar CAD package.)
  • Experience with CAT ET, CAT monitoring software, SIS web, and TMI is required.
  • Previous direct management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of diesel and natural gas generator sets is preferred.
  • Understanding of applicable codes, NFPA, NEMA, NEC
  • Basic knowledge of paralleling switchgear, generator set remote fuel system and remote cooling system is preferred.
  • Must have a clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle will be performed on final candidate).

Payrate: $75,000 - $130,000 annually with bonus opportunity of up to 20%

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
This position works primarily in an office environment. May, on a continuous basis, sit at a desk for a long period of time; answer telephone calls and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means, and in a vehicle traveling to and from locations. May on a continuous basis walk, bend and lift up to 20lbs. May be required to wear appropriate safety equipment (IE- Safety glasses or side shields) when needed. The noise level in the office environment is usually moderate to low. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.
