Job description

Job Description: Eyelet Stamping Tooling Engineer

Purpose

Lead engineer for Metal Stamping Development while supporting Production and Quality. Support continuous Metal Stamping process improvement of the Stamping area, quality of the product, launching of new products and materials. Work with manufacturing to implement lean manufacturing processes pertaining to tooldesign and stamping machine improvements. Is a resource for process engineering, work on various tooling projects. Excellent understanding of Metal Stamping. Knowledgeable in automation and secondary operations.

Responsibilities

  • Verify set ups and sampling of all stamping development projects, including sampling of all Engineering changes, new tools and prototypes.
  • Support continuous improvement of the metal stamping Dept.
  • Work with production operations to improve efficiencies on the production floor through tooling improvements and machine upgrades.
  • Insure department's support and contribution to the KPIs.
  • Support corporate engineering in the launch of new products and materials through the development of processes and tooling.
  • Justify new capital equipment expenditures.
  • Monitor process controls and correct when necessary.
  • Work with production operations to reduce scrap and efficiencies.
  • Supervise other employees as needed and foster a team environment.
  • Utilize engineering & management principles and knowledge.
  • Create detail prints for machines or fabrication of new concepts in tool design. Proper storage and back up of all PLC and CPU based programs.
  • Lead Project Engineering and Automation in all aspects of continuous improvement for Metal Stamping.
  • Assign work as new products are introduced during the Product Proposal phase. Monitor and analyze new tooling work assignment/projects for scheduling and ship dates.

Requirements

  • BS Degree or Equivalent Experience in Engineering
  • Metal Stamping experience is desired.
  • Experience in manufacturing processdevelopment for new product rollout.
  • Proven skill in managing quality issues.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Effective communications skills with internal and external contacts.
  • Must be motivated, analytical problem solver, able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Knowledge and experience of CAD and/or Solid Works systems.
  • Ability to design/create new tooling drawings.
  • Attention to detail and quality.
