SUMMARY
The Manager of Project Management is a core member of the engineering team, and acts as the primary focal point on project management matters on behalf of all project commitments ranging from a customer specific project to internally driven new product development to the organization. As the focal point, the Project Management Manager shall provide guidance and oversight for the development and implementation of standard processes/procedures for the utilization of: project planning, Recurring Action Item Lists, progress reporting internally and externally, and to manage the financial budget and deliverables schedule to ensure successful completion of all project. The Project Management Manager responsibilities also include management and supervisory functions in support of the Project Management Team members.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Managing project development and execution processes from initiation to closure.
  • Coordinate proper use of the available Project Manager and/or Coordinator resource
  • Directly manages Project Managers and Project Coordinators
  • Acts as a group leader that manages and/or coordinates:
    • project workload
    • daily department related activities and issues
  • Resource Management - coordinate with cross-functional departments to ensure proper staffing support
  • Manage flow of communication and information to and from higher level management
  • Work with the project sponsor (internal or external) for the initiation and execution of the phase gate process.
  • Develop and maintain the high-level project schedules for managerial reporting.
  • Communicate clearly the project expectations to the project sponsor and team members.
  • Resolve issues and solve problems throughout the project cycle.
  • Prepares program budgetary and progress reports
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Leading, coaching, and motivating members of the project management team.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Leads or assists efforts in creating statements of work when such is not provided by the customer.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks, and devise contingency plans.
  • Costing / pricing review and setting sell price
  • Contract review

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelors and/or Master's degree(s) in Business or Technology related field related field or demonstrated equivalent work experience.
  • 7-10+ years hand-on experience in project management role or similar function
  • Three to Five years of experience in the management of personnel.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Project management certification desired; i.e. CAPM / PMP, or other Project Management accredited certifications.
