Non-Exempt 


General Functions:

Provide information on credit union products and services according to all credit union policies and procedures and Federal and State rules and regulations. Responsible for interviewing and evaluating applicants for routine loans and processing loan applications. Gather background information and analyze loan applicants' credit history. Approve or deny loan applications based on analysis. Operate with moderate credit authority. 

The Loan Officer position will require attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, teamwork and a basic understanding of navigating multiple computer programs and the internet. Loan Officer must always maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of service.       

Duties and Responsibilities:

1) Reflect the credit union's core values in their daily activities and at any time they represent the credit union.

2) Provide excellent service to the members by listening, educating and identifying their needs. Promote credit union products and services based on member needs that transpire from member interviews. Maintain current knowledge of all credit union's services and policies. Maintain knowledge of competitor's rates, terms, etc., as well as internal trends relating to lending. Counsel members on interest rates and cross-serve services offered at the credit union.

3) Receive and interview applicants for all usual loan situations including Visa. Run consumer reports. Instruct applicants as to proper forms and methods of completing. Refer complex situations to Financial Counselor.

4) Establish repayment schedule, interest, etc. Give information on loan, car, trailer, etc., as required.

5) Verify accuracy of information on application. Check consumer reports, debt/income ratio, and runs NADA to determine value of collateral. Make sure application and accompanying papers are complete and in order. Verify employment with phone call to employer for FTB and nonmembers.

6) Review application and approve loans; taking loans required by policy to another loan officer, credit manager or V.P. for signature.

7) Disburse loan proceeds as authorized.

8) Notify members whose loans have not been approved. May assist applicant in finding other means of meeting financial obligations. In certain cases, is assisted by Loan Supervisor or Financial Counselor.

9) Receive approved loan deferment agreements. Make certain that terms are recorded in member's folder and that appropriate computer records are changed.

10) Answer telephone requests for loan information. Take applications by telephone and completes transaction by mail.

11) Know credit union's philosophy and policies so as to answer inquiries of a specific nature.

12) Handle Share Certificate inquiries and transactions for both regular and IRA CDs.

13) Open new savings accounts, checking accounts and Money Market accounts and runs consumer reports.

14) Process new account information including ordering checks, verifying eligibility, checking for appropriate signatures, filing cards, mailing welcome letters, etc. Type, laminate, and mail membership cards to members. Print starter or temporary checks for members. Assist members with Instant Issue ATM cards.

15) Prepare coupons for skip-a-pay when sold.

16) Assist members with wire transactions and in closing accounts. 

17) Assist members with discrepancies and complaints. Make corrections and refunds on accounts if necessary.

18) Answer complex debit card issues on Client (blocking/unblocking cards, fraud, etc.)

19) Open and perform transactions for IRAs and HSAs.

20) Completes credit application for Revolving Credit accounts.

21) Contact members whose loans are less than 30 days delinquent.

22) Prepare title work on all vehicle loans and mail to Secretary of State.

23) Performs credit evaluation with each member.

24) Process debt protection claims through TruStage, Disability, and Unemployment protection.

25) Notarize documents for members.

26) Must adhere to all privacy laws at all times. 

27) May be assigned to serve as the IRA Administrator. Added duties with this will include, but not be limited to: validating all documentation is complete and accurate and matches the core; contacting branch personnel regarding corrections; answering all employee inquiries; processing scheduled payments of IRA distributions; and reviewing/correcting/validating regulatory documentation including IRS forms 1099-R and 5498.  

28) Able to assist and backup duties and responsibilities of more senior positions or other positions as needed.

29) Provide organization-wide member service as needed by assisting with functions including, but not limited to: answering member calls, emails, and online chats.

30) Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. 

31) Maintains work area in an orderly manner.

33) Must be able to meet physical requirements: prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer or standing and completing training activities; must be able to lift 30 pounds at times. 



Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Skill, aptitude, and interest in sales.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to act independently and confidentially, using discretion and tact. 
  • Ability to analyze situations and recommend workable solutions.
  • Ability to coordinate, multitask, and prioritize work.
  • Minimum of one year customer service experience.
  • Availability during branch hours and to work at alternate Branch locations if/when assigned. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of bookkeeping is preferred. 
  • Minimum 1 year lending experience preferred. 
  • Minimum of 1 year of cash handling/teller experience is preferred. 



PAY INFORMATION


$20.75 to $21.95 per hour dependent upon qualifications and experience
