Position Summary:
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall performance, profitability, and day-to-day operations of the dealership. This includes overseeing all departments, sales, service, parts, and finance, to ensure goals are met or exceeded. The GM drives a high-performing culture focused on customer satisfaction, employee development, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
-Lead, manage, and hold department heads accountable across Sales, F&I, Service, Parts, and BDC.
-Develop and implement strategies to achieve revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction goals.
-Set performance objectives and monitor progress toward key business metrics.
-Ensure compliance with all legal, safety, and company policies and procedures.
-Manage dealership budgets, forecasts, and financial statements to ensure healthy performance.
-Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and team engagement.
-Hire, train, and mentor department managers and key staff.
-Oversee inventory control, pricing, and lot organization.
-Ensure exceptional customer experience in every department.
-Collaborate with marketing and digital teams to drive traffic and brand awareness.
-Serve as the face of the dealership in the community and industry events.
Qualifications:
-5+ years of progressive leadership experience in automotive dealership management, including General Sales Manager or GSM-level responsibilities.
-Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales and service targets.
-Deep knowledge of dealership operations (variable and fixed ops).
-Strong financial acumen and P&L management experience.
-Ability to motivate, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
-Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
