LOD Staffing has openings for General Ledger Manager

Location: San Antonio TX  78205

Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:45am – 4:30pm

Compensation: $41.30/hr


Position Overview


The General Ledger Manager is responsible for performing administrative and supervisory work planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the activities of the General Ledger section within the Finance Department.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Oversees and directs the day-to-day workflow distribution among
    General Ledger staff.
  • Develops, reviews and maintains General Ledger policies and
    procedures. Monitors for effectiveness, provides guidance and ensures
    compliance with department policies, procedures and service level
    agreements.
  • Reviews general ledger accounts to ensure posting accuracy, timeliness
    and reconciliation.
  • Manages monthly and annual close process in SAP and assists
    General Ledger staff and client Departments as necessary.
  • Reviews month-end and year end journal entries.
  • Assists staff and management with account reconciliation discrepancies
    to ensure proper accounting treatment and timely resolution of all
    outstanding issues. Reviews and approves necessary adjustment entries.
  • Drives process improvement and best practices or daily/weekly/monthly
    tasks, close procedures, and account reconciliation procedures.
  • Prepares and reviews work papers for internal and external audits.
  • Facilitates and oversees internal control procedures.
  • Acts as a resource to and liaison between Departments within internal and external contacts.
  • Provides technical guidance and direction.
  • Coordinates and delivers, as needed, training sessions for General
    Ledger staff and Departments.
  • Interviews, selects, supervises, develops, evaluates, counsels, and if
    necessary, disciplines personnel according to established policies,
    procedures, and guidelines.


Minimum Qualifications


·         Must be able to pass a national background check and drug screening

·         Must have a valid Class C Driver’s License

·         Must have a HS Diploma or GED Equivalent

·         Must have a Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university

Must have (5) years of increasingly responsible accounting experience, to
include (3) years of supervisory or lead work experience.


Additional Skills Required


  • Knowledge of governmental accounting, auditing, and financial
    reporting.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Knowledge of preparation of Comprehensive Annual Financial Reporting
    and Single Audit Report.
  • Knowledge of automated procurement systems.
  • Knowledge of banking and cash management, and municipal bond
    financing.
  • Ability to operate computer keyboard and other basic office
    equipment.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate complex accounting and financial
    problems, documents and reports, ability to provide administrative and
    professional leadership and direction to subordinates staff.


Work Environment


Work is in a professional office setting with standard business hours; however, extended hours may be required during payroll processing cycles, month-end close, or peak operational periods.

This position requires:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Frequent use of accounting software, spreadsheets, and email platforms
  • High attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment
  • Regular interaction with employees, management, vendors, and external partners
  • Handling of confidential and sensitive financial and employee information

Physical and Mental Requirements

·         Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, handling, reach outward, reach above shoulder, crawl, squat/Kneel, bend, push and pull frequently. Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on work surface.
  • Ability to use upper and lower extremities to move or transport 25 to 50 pounds, including pressing against something to force it in a forward, downward or outward position or drag, haul 25 to 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend the body downward and forward by bending spine at waist, and bending legs at knees and moving extremities in any direction
  • Ability to withstand physical demands on the body, including being in a stationary and/or standing position most of the day
  • Ability to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word, including where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly
  • Ability to understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information
