Position Purpose

The General Laborer (Temporary) will assist with production and warehouse operations to support Farmina Pet Food's manufacturing facility. Primary responsibilities include labeling pet food bags and performing other assigned duties to ensure smooth operations. This is a hands-on role requiring attention to detail, dependability, and the ability to follow instructions in a fast-paced environment.


Requirements

  • 1st Shift hours areMonday through Friday 6 AM - 2 PM. There may be times where overtime and weekend work may be required.
  • 2nd Shift hours are Monday through Friday 2 PM - 10 PM. There may be times where overtime and weekend work may be required.
  • 3rd Shift hours are Monday through Saturday 10 PM - 6 AM. There may be times where overtime and weekend work may be required.


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or logistics is preferred but not required.


Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of material handling techniques, including safe lifting and equipment operation.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Basic math and computer skills for inventory tracking and data entry.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.


Work Environment:

  • This position requires working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, temperature variations, and industrial equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift, up to 50 pounds regularly, as well as carry, push, or pull heavy loads.
  • Must be able to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as necessary to support production schedules.


Key Responsibilities

  • Apply labels to pet food bags accurately and efficiently.
  • Perform general labor duties as assigned by supervisors, which may include:
    • Cleaning work areas and equipment.
    • Moving, stacking, or organizing materials.
    • Assisting production staff with basic tasks.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to a supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
