We are seeking a hardworking and reliable General Laborer to join our construction team. In this role, you will provide essential support for a variety of projects, including concrete flatwork, underground utility installation (water, storm, and sanitary sewer), and underground boring operations. You will work closely with skilled tradespeople and equipment operators to ensure job sites are prepared, safe, and efficient. This is a physically demanding position that offers on-the-job training for those looking to build a career in specialized construction.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean and prepare construction sites by removing debris, trash, and hazardous materials.
  • Assist with digging trenches, backfilling excavations, and leveling earth to grade specifications.
  • Help position, join, align, and seal pipe sections for water, storm, and sanitary sewer systems.
  • Set up and dismantle concrete forms, braces, and shoring.
  • Assist with mixing, pouring, spreading, and leveling freshly poured concrete using rakes, shovels, and floats.
  • Support underground boring operations by digging entry/exit pits, managing drilling fluids (slurry), and assisting with the tracking of the drill head. Help pull pipe or conduit through reamed holes.
  • Load and unload building materials, tools, and heavy equipment from trucks.
  • Identify and distribute materials to appropriate locations on the job site.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in construction, concrete, or underground utilities is an asset, but we are willing to train motivated entry-level candidates.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Strength: Ability to regularly lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing up to 50–100 lbs.
  • Stamina: Capability to perform strenuous physical labor for 8–10 hour shifts in various positions (standing, walking, bending, stooping, and kneeling).
  • Mobility: Ability to climb ladders, access ground-level surfaces, and work in confined spaces or on uneven terrain.
  • Dexterity: Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for tool use and material assembly.
  • Environmental Exposure: Comfortable working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, or snow.
  • Senses: Sufficient vision and hearing to identify safety hazards, read warning signs, and communicate in noisy environments.

Why Join Valley Corporation

  • Competitive wages and profit sharing.
  • Comprehensive benefits: health, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • Matching 401(k) & ROTH contributions.
  • Paid vacation and holidays.
  • Supportive, safety-focused culture with opportunities for training and advancement.
