Job description

Trinity Industries is hiring for a Cost Estimating Technician/ "Write-up Inspector" for our Fort Worth, TX facility. We provide a complete array of railcar maintenance services.  We welcome your business leadership and people leadership and drive to excellence. What You'll Do:

Physical inspection of inbound railcars.
Identify and document all running numbers.
Verify cleaning certificate/cleanliness of railcar.
Identify and document any AAR defects on railcar.
Review shopping instructions and compare physical findings.
Note any findings not on shopping instructions and communicate with fleet manager or customer as required.
Create BRC (Billing Repair Card) estimate based on shopping instructions and physical findings.
Submit estimates for review and approval from fleet manager or customer.
Key revisions and additional work content to the BRC and submit for approvals as needed.

What you'll need:

High School diploma or equivalent and at least two years of related work experience.
Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
Willing / ability to learn of American Railroad Association (AAR) and Trinity Rail codes standards and regulations applicable to the fabrication, repair and operation of railcars highly preferred.
Will use TAS, RAS, ALLTRANSTECH systems to complete estimates and other documents.
General hand tools (impact, pipe wrench, various hand tools, camera, fall protection.
Ability to work outside in various and sometimes extreme weather conditions (60% of time) and in office setting (40%).
Ability to walk outside along tracks and climb on and off cars during inspections.
Proven ability to work with minimal direction, as well as be resourceful and independent in solving problems with a high attention to detail.
Ability & experience in handling sensitive/confidential information is a MUST.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
