The General Dynamics Land Systems Summer 2027 Internship Program provides an opportunity for students to look to start or continue the transition from academia into industry. Our three-month internship assignments provide compensation based on area of study and class standing, and have the students embedded in key functional areas of our business, getting real-world experience and mentorship from seasoned professionals. As part of your summer experience, you will join our team and use your education, experience, and creativity to make an impact.  
 

This internship supports the relationship between GD Land Systems and its suppliers by assisting with buying, planning and expediting parts.

 Responsibilities May Include:

  • Learn and support the full range of responsibilities associated with the Procurement role.
  • Use of and learn Oracle system for material needs
  • Assist with the solicitation and preparation of Request for Quotes (RFQs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and Request for Information (RFIs)
  • Learn and perform cost analysis of proposals, price and cost analysis of supplier quotes
  • Support proposal fact finding activities
  • Learn and participate in  proposal negotiations (including cost and terms and conditions)
  • Prepare, place and help administer Purchase Order preparation, placement to assure subcontractor compliance.
  • Learn how to administer Subcontracts and Purchase orders, control costs and help ensure on-time delivery to support program requirements
  • Will help buying activities including analysis of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) needs
  • May serve as a focal point between the suppliers and GDLS functional departments and program offices
  • Help manage quality, design and payment issues with  our subcontractors and suppliers
  • Will help support GD Land Systems compliance with applicable procurement laws and regulations
  • Learn and help support the administration of Purchase Order kick off meetings and on-site program reviews with suppliers
  • Review and analyze planning to assure Subcontracts / Purchase orders are placed within supplier lead-time
  • Help support and Exped parts as required to support program schedules
  •  Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Enrolled in Bachelor’s Degree in a Business, Supply chain Management or a related field at an accredited university or college.
  • Sophomore class standing or higher preferred
  • Ability to use and learn Oracle system and associated computer systems
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated business acumen
  • Must be able to compose professional emails and other business correspondence
  • You will work in a team environment to meet objectives and performance metrics
  • Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, provide timely updates, with all stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Comfortable doing presentations when needed

Additional Information

  • This position may require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance). 
  • No Sponsorship available 
  • Must successfully pass standard pre-employment screens 
  • Must be able to complete a minimum of a full time, 3 month assignment
