Position Summary

J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. is a North American organization providing innovative safety and regulatory compliance guidance and solutions to organizations across the U. S. and Canada. For over 70 years, organizations of all sizes have relied on J. J. Keller to help them create safe work environments for their employees and comply with ever-changing regulations. As we look to expand our service offerings, we are seeking to add an Independent Contractor to our Workplace Safety Consulting practice who has subject matter expertise related to OSHA Lockout / Tagout standards (CFR 1910.147). This opportunity is for an Independent Contractor only and does not constitute an employment relationship. Independent Contractors must reside in the U. S. and be legally authorized to perform services within the United States.

To be considered as an Independent Contractor, individuals must:

  • Operate as an independent safety consulting business (e.g., sole proprietor, incorporated entity, or equivalent)
  • Provide services to multiple clients and maintain a non-exclusive consulting practice
  • Supply their own tools, methodologies, instructional materials, and business processes necessary to deliver services
  • Be responsible for all taxes, insurance, and business-related expenses
  • Provide their own computer, equipment, and tools necessary to perform services
  • Maintain appropriate professional liability coverage, as required under the contractual agreement

Travel requirements vary based on client engagements, audit needs, and training delivery, and are defined by project or statement of work.ย 

Type of Service Requested
  • Provides safety consulting and educational services toย J. J. Kellerย clientsย throughย onsite engagements, off-site locations, and/or internet-based delivery methods in accordance with defined project scope.ย 
  • Designs, develops, documents, and maintainsย trainingย curriculum andย instructionalย materials for general and client-specific applications.ย 
  • Conducts safety audits, inspections, andย riskย assessments,ย based on applicable regulatory standards and client requirements.ย 
  • Monitorsย relevant regulatory and compliance applicable to the scope of service and incorporate changes into deliverables and training content as appropriate.ย 
  • Communicates regulatory updates, recommendations, and findings to designated client contacts through reports, briefings, or presentations.ย 
  • Provides advisory support to interpret regulatory requirements and practical application, without assuming responsibility for client compliance enforcement or ongoing operational oversight.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Certifiedย Safety Professional certification preferred.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated expertise providing safety consulting, regulatory advisory, auditing, and training services to commercial or industrial clients related to OSHA lockout / tagout standards (29 CFR 1910.147) required.
  • Must have experience writing machine-specific LOTO procedures for large-scale projects involving 200+ pieces of equipment.
  • Must have experience delivering LOTO training and developing facility-specific and role-specific content for LOTO training.
  • Proven history of providing independent safety consulting services within consulting and/or complex corporate environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of sales, marketing, and finance concepts related to operating an independent consulting practice.ย 

Other Skills/Qualifications:

  • Proficiency using business productivity tools (MS Office suite) necessary to deliver reports, presentations, and training materials.
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal, written and presentation
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with client representatives at all levels.
  • Maintains a high level of regulatory expertise.
  • Understanding of sales, marketing, and business finance concepts/applications.
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle to perform required services.
