DCAMM is a central agency in implementing several key policy priorities of the Healey-Driscoll Administration, including promoting decarbonization and climate resilience in all state facilities, identifying and facilitating opportunities to repurpose underutilized state property for housing production, and increasing the participation of underrepresented groups in public construction contracting and in the public construction workforce. 

Position Overview

DCAMM's Office of Design and Construction is seeking Contractor Resident Engineers/Clerk of Works to monitor various Public construction projects statewide, including CM@Risk, new construction, renovations, demolition, environmental remediation, and energy and water conservation projects including large retrofits, commissioning, and installation of renewable energy technology. Contractor Resident Engineers observe and document daily ongoing construction activities to monitor job progress and to ensure that the work of the Contractor is in compliance with the project plans and specifications.

Resident Engineers work with the Designer, Contractor, and Project Manager/Project Engineer to maintain quality control, ensure appropriate construction methods, procedures and safety requirements, adherence to contract documents and compliance with all related codes and regulations, including accessibility codes and guidelines. Contractor Resident Engineers assist the Designer/Consultant Team to schedule/coordinate all on site testing and ensure that all tests are conducted properly. Resident Engineers maintain accurate project records, ensure that contractor as-builts are up-to-date, assist with the oversight of MEP and Enclosure Commissioning, utility incentives, punch list, project close-out and delivery/turn-over from construction to user agency operations.

This is a contract position. Contractor Resident Engineers participate in Facility Performance Evaluations and the preparation of the general contractor performance evaluation.

Multiple contract engineer positions open at statewide project locations; contract with good prospect for extensions.

Posting remains online until all positions are filled.

Up to 5 days sick leave per year based on hours worked.

This position is not eligible for telework.

External Applicants should have a minimum of a BS/BA degree in Engineering, Architecture or a field providing equivalent expertise and at least five (5) years related experience. A minimum of ten years (10) supervisory construction experience will be considered in lieu of a BS/BA degree.

Qualified applicants will possess a thorough knowledge of building construction methods and familiarity with applicable state/federal codes. Licensed Construction Supervisor preferred but not required.
