Job description

General Assembly Technician @ Batavia, IL (Fermilab)

General Assembly Technician January 2026

In support of the DARPA project “Experiment Neutrino Detector, END-Underwater Muon Detector”, ETD needs a person to assist in scintillator plane assembly, and test for the detectors that are to be used in underwater detectors.

Under the direction of the PPD and ETD staff, the work is expected to consist of the following:

• Assist in detector production

• Assist in detector test

Qualifications:

We are interested in technicians who have at least 3 years of experience in system/component assembly:

• Work with mechanical assembly, gluing and assembly of large components.

• Work with carbon-fiber layup

• Work with basic measuring and QC equipment.

Expected deliverables:

• Report to the PI of END on activities and results from tests, measurements, and assembly.

Expected duration:

The position will be full time (40 hour work week) for 6 months.
