Job Summary:

The Barista is primarily responsible for taking orders, preparing beverages, and serving guests at Portside Coffee & Gelato. This position is also responsible for cleanliness and safety of coffee & gelato shop areas of the property.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver an amazing guest experience with fast and friendly service when taking orders and processing payments.
  • Be knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu, with the ability to answer questions and make suggestions.
  • Prepare and serve beverages consistently adhering to all recipe standards.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs and exceed customer service expectations.
  • Protects establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation and safety policies.
  • Keep designated service stations clean and organized.
  • Restock and replenish bar inventory.
  • Concludes the guest experience by acknowledging choice of establishment and inviting patrons to return.
  • Ensure guests are enjoying their experience and take action to correct any problems.
  • Complete assigned sidework at the beginning, during, and at end of shift.

  • Friendly, energetic, detail-oriented team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment!
  • Coffee experience is a plus but not required. We offer on-the-job training.
  • A desire to help where needed and work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work positively and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor the entire bar area and service wells.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Exhibit a professional appearance and mannerisms.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, and wipe for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to carry trays and supplies (up to 25 lbs.).
  • Food Handler Certification.
