The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is the largest community college district in the United States and one of the largest in the world. POSITION
The LACCD is accepting applications for Noncredit Basic Skills Mathematics Instructor positions at our colleges for the 2026 Academic School Year. The purpose of this posting is to create a pool of qualified applicants. When there is an opening at one of our colleges, the hiring location will begin their review process with the applicants in the pool. If you have applied to previous pools in this discipline, you will need to apply to this pool to continue to be considered.
The LACCD is seeking dynamic, motivated and diverse candidates for part-time faculty positions to engage and educate our students. Successful candidates will collaborate, communicate and work as professionals with students, staff, faculty and administrators. Applicants with a demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population are strongly encouraged to apply.
During completion of the adjunct application, applicants will have the opportunity to indicate which of LACCD's colleges are of interest for employment. Qualified applicants may be offered an interview with Noncredit Education Department members at one or more of LACCD's 9 colleges. LACCD employees are required to provide their vaccination status in compliance with the LACCD Board of Trustees' policy. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To teach a full range of community college, Noncredit Basic Skills course offerings focused on Math Basic Skills, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics;
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college faculty, staff, and students.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual Certificate - California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
- Possession of a California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the subject matter.
- Ability to design and contextualize Math competencies through workforce aligned materials for various industries, such as Construction, Culinary, STEM, Business, and other Career Sectors;
- Adult Basic Education, (Grades 1-8);
- Adult Secondary Education, (Grades 9-12).
- General Education Development (GED) Testing.
- Comprehensive Adult Students Assessment System (CASAS) Testing.
- Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) Testing.
- Competency-Based Skills Development & Remediation.
- Experience in teaching specialized populations, including Dual Enrollment, Justice-Involved, Foster or Court-Impacted Youth, LGBTQ, speakers of other languages, undocumented students, and individuals with different learning abilities, etc.
DUTIES
The adjunct instructor should be prepared to teach a range of Noncredit Math related courses within the Basic Skills discipline, and promote engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning. The successful candidate will be culturally responsive in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members who span a diverse range of languages, nationalities and ethnicities, socio-economic levels, ages, identities, abilities and educational experiences.
REMOTE LEARNINGFaculty may be required to conduct classes in a virtual learning environment using Canvas, hybrid, or hyflex modalities to support remote learning. Applicants with demonstrated certification in Canvas or other online modalities may be given preference.
COMPENSATION
The salary schedule for adjunct noncredit instructors begins at $79.20 per standard hour.
