What is a GED instructor?

GED Instructors are educators who help students prepare for the General Educational Development (GED) test, which is an alternative to a traditional high school diploma. They teach subjects such as math, science, language arts, and social studies, focusing on the skills and knowledge required to pass the GED exam. GED Instructors often work with adult learners or individuals who did not complete high school, providing instruction, practice tests, and guidance throughout the preparation process. Their goal is to support students in achieving their educational and career goals by earning a GED credential.

What does a GED instructor do?

A GED instructor teaches students who are preparing to take the General Education Development (GED) exam, which is equivalent to a high school diploma. Your teaching duties include covering the topics that students need to know to earn their GED degree. You can teach in community centers or Adult Basic Education (ABE) facilities. Your responsibilities are also to plan lessons, assess student progress, and offer additional assistance and guidance if necessary. You can also use practice exams to measure students’ performance and define areas where they need further education. The subjects that you cover as a GED instructor include English, math, science, and literature.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a GED instructor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a GED Instructor, you need a solid understanding of the core GED subject areas (math, science, social studies, and language arts), typically supported by a bachelor's degree and teaching or adult education certification. Familiarity with standardized test preparation materials, digital learning platforms, and classroom management systems is important. Strong communication, patience, and motivational skills help engage adult learners and address diverse educational backgrounds. These skills ensure effective instruction, learner retention, and successful student outcomes on the GED exam.

What are some common challenges GED instructors face when teaching adult learners, and how can they be addressed?

GED Instructors often encounter students with diverse academic backgrounds and varying levels of confidence, which can make it challenging to tailor lessons that meet everyone's needs. Additionally, many adult learners may have external responsibilities, such as work or family, that impact attendance and study time. To address these challenges, instructors frequently use differentiated instruction, flexible scheduling, and supportive classroom environments to help students build foundational skills and stay motivated throughout the program.

What is the difference between Ged Instructor vs Adult Education Teacher?

An Adult Education Teacher may teach a wider range of subjects and educational programs for adults. The roles overlap in work environment and industry but differ in scope and certification requirements.

How to become a GED instructor?

To become a GED instructor, you typically need a high school diploma or equivalent and a bachelor's degree in education or a related field. Many states require passing a background check and obtaining a teaching certification or credential specific to adult education or GED instruction. Job description

Job Category: Sales
Requisition Number: PARTT002016
Description
Part Time Account Executive (Outside Sales) - Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas

At Delta Defense, we stand for something bigger than a product. We believe the inalienable right to self-defense is fundamental to freedom. We believe in personal responsibility, training, and protecting the people we love. And we exist for the millions of responsible American gun owners and those who may one day legally defend themselves who take that responsibility seriously.

Delta Defense is the private company behind the marketing, operations, and customer service of the U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) an organization dedicated to safeguarding the life, freedom, and finances of responsibly armed Americans. As an Outside Sales Account Executive, you carry that mission into every parking lot, range, retailer, and training room you step into. Learn more about the USCCA at https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/

As a Part-Time Account Executive on our Outside Sales team, you will drive sales and build strong relationships within an assigned territory. Ideal candidates are passionate about the Second Amendment, highly self motivated, and able to independently engage with local ranges, retailers, and instructors.

The reality of this role:

This part-time position offers flexibility to suit your schedule but does not include company benefits. In this role you have the chance to make a significant impact while still enjoying the flexibility of a part-time schedule.

Most days, youll be earning attention before you earn the sale.

You'll stand up at the end of a concealed carry class. In front of a room of strangers who just spent several hours learning to carry a firearm responsibly and who are tired, skeptical, and not sure why they should listen to you. You'll show up cold at a range on a Saturday morning. You'll walk into a retailer whose owner has seen plenty of reps before you and isn't easily impressed.

And your job is to earn the right to be heard.

That's what makes this role different. It's face-to-face, relationship-driven, and credibility-first especially in front of firearms instructors, range owners, and everyday Americans who care deeply about self-defense and personal freedom. If you're a responsible gun owner who enjoys being at the range, talking gear and training, and helping others protect themselves, you'll have instant rapport and authenticity. If you're new to the space but eager to learn the community, be honest about that too people here respect humility far more than a memorized pitch.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent the USCCA in rural markets through education, outreach, and relationship-building.
  • Maintain and expand relationships with partner ranges, firearm instructors, and retailers.
  • Deliver compelling group presentations and drive awareness of USCCA Membership benefits.
  • Support CCW classes and onboarding events with accurate, compliant, and mission-aligned messaging.
  • Present and sell USCCA membership benefits to individuals and groups through pitches, classes, and events.
  • Collaborate with marketing and other support teams to organize, schedule, and execute sales events for maximum results.
  • Travel within assigned territory to attend partner events, training, and community engagements.
  • Work hours will vary based on event schedules and territory needs.

Experience/Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent/GED.
  • Proven ability to close sales and achieve performance goals.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to connect both 1:1 and in group settings.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain State Property & Casualty Insurance license (company training provided).
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel within assigned territory.
  • Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and a results-driven mindset.
  • Proficient in or ability to learn Microsoft Suite Products, Google Suite & Salesforce.
  • Demonstrates the Core Values of Delta Defense LLC.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of sales, instruction, or community engagement experience.
  • Firearms industry familiarity and/or instructor certification.
  • Experience building relationships in rural markets.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively build and maintain relationships.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with business acumen to drive sales and strategic initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills to confidently engage with diverse audiences.

Territory:

Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas

Compensation and Perks:

  • Salary - $25.00/hour plus 12% commission
  • 401K retirement plan eligible
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • USCCA Membership
  • Employee discount on USCCA store merchandise
  • Company-provided computer equipment and branded apparel allowance
  • Paid training
  • Please note that part time role does not include the company's full benefits package, such as health insurance coverage, available to full time employees

Our commitment to you:

If youre selected for this role, youll receive the tools, coaching, and support you need to succeed. To set you up for a strong start, youll complete a required, paid training program that runs for the first 5 weeks. Training includes on-site orientation at company headquarters, self-paced learning, and a blend of virtual and in-person instructor-led classroom training. Because the training builds week to week, youll need to be fully available throughout the program.
