The Maintenance Technician III- Electrical position requires advanced or mastered understanding for troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of plant electrical & electronic systems. There is a strong emphasis on the troubleshooting and fine-tuning of electrical, PLC, and drives to ensure equipment and systems are operating at peak production requirements. This technician responds to all critical and emergency issues within the facility and is responsible for prioritizing multiple demands and making independent decisions based on critical needs. Additionally, this position will provide guidance and mentoring to maintenance technicians I and II within the facility.PositionMaintenance Technician III - ElectricalLocationUSA, Decatur, ALHow You'll Create Possibilities

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and improve hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot VFD's and Servo Drives, setting and adjusting parameters and replacement of such devices
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical equipment and pumps
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Complete shop records and use reporting systems following established procedures
  • Adjust manufacturing equipment and test machinery for accuracy
  • Provide quick response to maintenance requests and calls from maintenance leadership and manufacturing operations teams
  • Follow safe work methods and procedures to avoid injury to self and co-workers or damage to company property, including use of all required personal protective equipment, following safety precautions (e.g. LOTO), ensuring machine guards, etc.
  • Follow proper housekeeping standards to ensure clean and organized maintenance work areas
What You'll Bring to Our Team

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a high school diploma, GED or GED equivalent AND
    • Associates Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical field or similar with minimum 5 years' experience in electrical maintenance in an industrial/manufacturing environment, OR
    • Equivalent trade school certification/license with minimum 5 years' experience in the electrical field with experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Technical training with military service with 7 years' experience in maintenance in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Possess demonstrated experience working with 480V, 220V, 120V, and low volt DC electrical controls and systems and the ability to read and understand electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics
  • Must have demonstrated work experience with AC/DC power and process logic controllers (PLC) used in manufacturing
  • Must be team oriented and work well with others
  • Proven ability to work with these factors:
    • Perform work in a loud/noisy environment
    • Change shifts and work overtime and weekends, as required
    • Work with parts/equipment which may be hot, cold, and/or wet
    • Work outside in all weather conditions and work at heights
    • Use a wide range of powered tools and hand tools and vibratory tools/equipment
    • Operate motorized equipment, including but not limited to scissor lifts, JLGs, fork trucks, etc.
  • Must be capable of attaining annual medical clearance for respirator usage as well as clearance for all areas of the plant
  • Perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation, including, but not limited to:
    • Intermittently sit or stand with frequent walking.
    • Occasionally lift or move component parts up to 50 lbs.
    • Pushing/pulling up to 35 lbs.
    • Use hands to handle or feel parts - grasp, squeeze, pinch, manual dexterity.
    • Reach with hands and arms, stoop, twist, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist or crawl.
    • Talk and hear, use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
    • May be exposed to outside weather conditions prevalent at the time.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
    • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
    • Occasionally exposed to wet and /or humid conditions; high, precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles, foam rooms and caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
