Job Description Summary

Lead independent engineering process assurance and process audits across product development teams. Plan and execute audits/assessments, collect objective evidence, drive closure of findings, and report compliance metrics. This position is based in Grand Rapids, MI and supports aerospace development programs.

Role Overview

Process Assurance provides independent assurance that engineering plans and processes are followed and that engineering outputs result from suitable, rigorous, and structured lifecycle processes. This role conducts audits and assessments to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, industry, customer, and GE Aerospace requirements.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Plan, execute, and document process and system audits/assessments of engineering activities using objective evidence, sampling, and risk‑based approaches.
  • Assess compliance to applicable program plans, internal procedures, and required external standards for regulated aerospace development.
  • Review engineering artifacts for compliance and traceability expectations (e.g., plans, reviews, verification evidence, configuration/data management records).
  • Document audit results, including clear findings, objective evidence references, and corrective action expectations.
  • Drive finding closure effectiveness by supporting root cause analysis, validating corrective actions, and verifying closure.
  • Maintain required quality records and ensure audit artifacts are complete, controlled, and retrievable.
  • Develop and report quality/audit metrics (e.g., trends, repeat findings, aging, closure effectiveness) to key stakeholders.
  • Interface with internal stakeholders and, as required, support engagement with customers, regulatory authorities, and suppliers related to audit readiness and compliance topics.
  • Provide coaching and guidance on compliant practices and continuous improvement opportunities identified through audits.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college or high school diploma/GED with minimum 7 years of quality experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience conducting process auditing and/or systems auditing (planning, execution, reporting, and closure verification) OR 3 years of experience in airborne product engineering development subject to RTCA/DO-178, RTCA/DO-254, SAE ARP4754 or similar standards.
  • Position requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and is only for U.S. Citizens.
  • Will require proof of status as a U.S. Person (lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, asylee, or refugee).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of process/system auditing experience; lead auditor experience preferred.
  • Understanding of RTCA/DO-178, RTCA/DO-254, and SAE ARP4754A, with the ability to evaluate plans and objective evidence in an assurance/audit context.
  • Experience supporting new product development/launch and engineering lifecycle reviews.
  • Familiarity with aircraft certification environments (e.g., FAA/EASA) and regulated development practices.
  • Strong oral/written communication skills, including writing clear audit reports and presenting results to leadership.
  • Aerospace electronics/avionics development exposure is a plus.
  • Strong ethics, integrity, and ability to maintain independence while partnering effectively across teams.
Technical & Security Requirements

This role requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information. Employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, or have been granted asylee or refugee status (protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
