Job description

RELAY SETTING ENGINEER

Seeking a Relay Setting Engineer who is experienced in developing relay settings philosophy document, relay settings basis and calculations documents and programming SEL relays with AcSELerator. Prefer experience with GE or ABB (or other manufacturers) relays.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with protection engineers and perform quality reviews of relay setting packages
  • Create logic diagrams for IEC 61850 substations
  • Prepare protective relay coordination studies
  • Develop relay settings from 34.5kV through 500kV, including set points, logic diagrams, configuration files and documentation
  • Solve complex substation engineering problems
  • Support project planning activities through design and construction support
  • Work directly with clients and collaborate with staff

Experience requirements:

  • Min. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 2-5 or more years of experience
  • High voltage (500kv) experience
  • Experience working in any of the following industries: Power, Energy, Utilities, Infrastructure
  • Create relay settings and logic diagrams
  • Proficient in Aspen OneLiner and Siemens CAPE for coordination studies and fault analysis
  • Experience developing relay settings for microprocessor relays, including SEL, Alstom, GE, ABB and others
  • Experience with both transmission line relays (line differential, step distance, and pilot schemes) and substation relays (capacitors, transformers and buses)
  • Experience implementing control and protection schemes, interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams and preparing relay logic
  • Familiar with PTC Mathcad
  • Previous QA/QC experience
  • Experience preparing technical reports
