The Position
As a member of the Global Customer Support (GCS) Instrument Support team, this person is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, installation, and technical support of all released internal instrumentation. This includes any and all peripherals that come with the instrumentation. Individual understands implications of the work and makes recommendations for solutions as well as assist in determining methods and procedures on new assignments. It is the individual's responsibility to maintain positive and effective working relationships with all stakeholders. As part of an R&D organization, the individual is held to demanding timelines and different request types depending on the studies being performed.
The Opportunity
  • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance and other required maintenance on released instrumentation in the required timeframe.
  • Diagnose and perform repairs on Roche released internal instruments at both internal and external sites.
  • Installs new released instrumentation including all peripherals (I.e. PC, label printers, etc.). Assists with removal of decommissioned instrumentation and PCs.
  • Perform calibrations on released instrumentation, when required.
  • Works from written and verbal descriptions to perform testing, trouble-shooting, and repair functions.
  • Ensures compliance of calibration for the different tools and systems maintained in the Research and Development laboratories. Ensures all required service documentation is completed and submitted as required.
  • Monitors work to ensure quality, and continuously promote Quality First Time.

Who You Are
  • You hold a High School Diploma and 2 years of technical school or equivalent military training or equivalent work experience
  • Successful training or certification as defined by RD Services Leadership and policy
  • Knowledge of electronics, electro-mechanical systems, and information technology
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry

Behaviors, competencies, and qualities of the ideal GCS Instrument Support Service Technician I
  • Ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical, assembly drawings, specifications and technical procedures. Ability to use test equipment such as digital voltmeters and precision weight scales.
  • Ability to use hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, nut-drivers, calipers and various other hand tools.
  • Provides excellent customer service to all stakeholders. This includes building and maintaining strong relationships. Communicates efficiently and effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Reporting and knowledge exchange of field relevant issues to/with GCS second level support.
  • Works as an effective departmental or cross-functional team member.
  • Works independently and with minimal supervision while adhering to Roche procedures and processes.

Relocation benefits are not available for this position.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Arizona is 45,400.00 - 84,400.00 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
