Salary:

Class A Driver / Heavy Equipment Operator (Yard & Field Hybrid) Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and experienced Class A Driver / Heavy Equipment Operator to support both field operations and yard management. This is a hybrid role responsible for transporting equipment and materials, supporting job sites, and maintaining an organized and efficient yard. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, can operate independently, and is willing to jump in wherever needed to support the team.


Key Responsibilities
DOT Compliance Requirements

  • This is a safety-sensitive position subject to U.S. DOT and FMCSA regulations
  • Must maintain a valid Class A CDL and DOT Medical Card
  • Subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing and Clearinghouse compliance
  • Must comply with Hours of Service (HOS) and ELD requirements
  • Must maintain an acceptable driving record (MVR)
  • Responsible for compliance with all vehicle inspection and cargo securement regulations

Equipment & Material Transport

  • Safely transport equipment over 12,000 lbs to and from job sites
  • Operate lowboy, end dump, transfer, and utility trailers
  • Haul materials including sand, base, crushed rock, asphalt, and boulders
  • Deliver and remove precast vaults, pipes, and traffic control materials
  • Transport disabled trucks and equipment as needed
  • Backhaul materials from vendors and pits


Hauling & Disposal

  • Off-haul trench spoils, asphalt, and concrete to designated sites
  • Deliver materials to job sites and stock yard inventory bins
  • Haul scrap materials for recycling and manage landfill runs


Water Truck Operations

  • Operate water trucks for dust control and job site support
  • Assist with utility flushing and testing activities


Yard Operations

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard
  • Monitor and restock aggregate material inventory (sand, base, crushed rock)
  • Support asphalt/concrete screening and crushing operations
  • Inspect and maintain yard infrastructure (fencing, lighting, gate, etc.)


Fleet & Equipment Support

  • Perform daily inspections of trucks, trailers, and equipment (DVIR)
  • Identify maintenance needs and has ability to perform minor repairs upon request
  • Support shop operations and maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned equipment


General Support

  • Assist crews with loading, unloading, and daily dispatch from the yard
  • Help maintain overall facility conditions, including shop and office support as needed
  • Take initiative to support team operations wherever needed


Qualifications

  • ValidClass A CDL(required)
  • Experience operating multiple trailer types (lowboy, end dump, transfer, utility)
  • Ability to operate manual transmissions (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of equipment hauling and securement
  • Familiarity with construction materials and job site operations
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail


Preferred

  • Experience in underground utilities or civil construction
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting ability


Work Environment

  • Combination of driving, yard work, and active construction sites
  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
  • Physically active role
