Job description

Emerald Transportation Solutions is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Lift Gate Installer to join our production team. This position is responsible for the installation, assembly, testing, and inspection of hydraulic and electric lift gate systems on refrigerated trucks, vans, and commercial vehicles. The ideal candidate will have experience in body assembly, automotive manufacturing, mechanical installation, or heavy equipment assembly and possess a strong commitment to safety, quality, and craftsmanship.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install lift gate systems on commercial trucks, vans, and specialty vehicles according to engineering specifications and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, schematics, and assembly drawings.
  • Mount lift gate components including platforms, frames, hydraulic systems, electrical controls, and safety devices.
  • Perform drilling, cutting, measuring, fitting, and fastening of components.
  • Route and connect electrical wiring, switches, controls, and lighting systems.
  • Install and troubleshoot hydraulic components including pumps, hoses, cylinders, and reservoirs.
  • Conduct operational testing to ensure proper lift gate performance and compliance with safety standards.
  • Inspect completed installations for quality, functionality, and workmanship.
  • Identify and correct assembly defects or installation issues.
  • Maintain accurate production documentation and quality records.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and manufacturing standards.
  • Assist other production departments as needed to meet production schedules.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in body assembly, vehicle upfitting, truck equipment installation, automotive manufacturing, fabrication, or related mechanical field preferred.
  • Experience with lift gates, hydraulic systems, truck bodies, trailers, or commercial vehicle equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read tape measures and use precision measuring tools.
  • Basic understanding of electrical wiring and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and assembly instructions.
  • Forklift certification is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to safely operate tools and equipment required for vehicle assembly.
Work Environment
This position is performed in a manufacturing and assembly environment. Employees are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
